(OP) User ID: 77774028 United States 08/04/2019 03:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | She is now in the loving arms of Jesus. Sliver Patriot, a 10 year poster on GLP, passed away last monday, July 29th, from cancer. She had been diagnosed in April. When they attempted surgery in April, it was everywhere in her abdomen, so they started heavy duty chemo and radiation instead, to try to knock it down. It never worked, and she steadily went downhill. Quoting: tiger1 Silver Patriot, my friend Sandy on and off this board, fought with all she had, and was bolstered by the many prayers of posters on this board. I want to personally thank each and every one of you for your kindness, for your thoughts, and your prayers for my friend Sandy. While Sandy was still conscious, she told me she wanted me to tell you all "THANK YOU" for your prayers. Sandy was a Patriot, having served in the Air Force, as did her husband. Sandy was also a Prepper, very wise to the possibilities of "anything can happen". Sandy was a strong person, but very kind hearted to all in need. She was such a good, and supportive friend to me, talking me through a lot of the strife I have had at home over the years. All I had to do was call or send an email, and she had my back, no matter what was going on here with me. I was privileged to spend her last few days on this earth with her, praying with her and for her, helping her with her medical and other needs, and giving her husband, her sole caregiver, a little break. Even though she went home from the hospital on hospice care at her home on July 25th, Hospice didn't show up until the afternoon of July 29th, a few hours before Sandy died. I had to catch my 18 hour train ride back home to the Chicago area, a couple of hours before Sandy passed away. She died as I was en-route home. Sandy's legacy, IMO, is to fight for what is right, never give up, and keep the Faith. Godspeed my friend ! What a difference you made in my life, my dear friend Sandy !!! RIP. Im sad for you to loose such a good friend Tiger! Those kind of friends I can count on one hand. Sorry for your loss! A friend like Sandy, was a rare true friend indeed. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |

The last couple of days were really heart wrenching, as we had a hard time controlling the intense pain she was having. She was unconscious on monday, the day she died. That was a blessing, as her pain was off the scale. I am a humble Servant of the one True Living God. |

I was going to post and ask if anyone had heard from her, as I had not heard from her for about a month. Prior to that we had been corresponding pretty regularly in recent months. She was a talented nature photographer and sent me some beautiful shots of birds and wildlife around their property. I knew she was very ill and had had more than one emergency surgery. I had not heard from her after she said she was going in for an emergency surgery and I feared the worst. She was such a nice person and I was so sad that it seemed their Wyoming plans were not going to happen. They were getting all set to move to their land there and build a house when her husband had a stroke, and then she became ill after that. I am so sorry about this but she was a woman of strong faith and I know she is free now and in a better place. Thanks again for posting for our Silver Patriot. She upgraded my account for me three different times I think. That was so nice of her. She was a kind and generous soul and had a lot of interesting life experiences. R.I.P. Sandy |

Quoting: BOOM!™ I lost someone very close to me... to cancer a few years ago and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Rest in peace Sandy. I found out thursday, that another friend, a lady who runs a clothing bank and a thrift shop out of her church, has kidney cancer. My brother has been fighting cancer for over 1 1/2 years. He has to go in for retests this month. They think they got it all, between the surgery, chemo and radiation, but his guts still are not functioning. Most of my friends and family that have passed away in the last few years, all had cancer, with few exceptions. I have seen friends and family go through the cancer and all the nasty stuff that goes with it. The only one in my circle of family and friends who survived it, was one niece who had eye cancer. Sandy will always be remembered for her kindness to other's. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |
