Standard mashed potato recipe, you know, peel and chop those bad boys into quarters and then put in a pot of salted water, let them boil until nice and soft. Quoting: C. M. M. I took a sauce pan and threw in some fresh garlic all chopped up and sauteed it a bit before adding pure amish roll butter and milk. Let that melt down nice, stir a bit, then pour into the taters while I was mashing them in the drained pot. Made a homemade gravy from frying up a few pieces of bacon and then adding flour and milk to the grease to top the potatoes with. Little dash of salt and pepper and I swear they were so good I could have died happy right there. What kind of potatoes? |

Quoting: NOLAangel :greenkarma: Oh it was. It was just the right amount of milky sweet but had that bacon sear sort of after taste and just absolutely decadent with those potatoes! Mashed with lots of real pure salted butter, organic milk or better yet half and half cream.....with lots of garlic powder, salt, freshly ground cracked black pepper............and ta da......... Philadelphia Cream Cheese.. Now your white gravy sounds good but I prefer brown gravy.......especially made from either pork, turkey or beef. ...plus bacon drippings. Talk about calories....oh lordy!!! This will really put the pounds on you. Hand mash first then finish up with an electric mixer to get that smooth creamy texture. The secret is to not have the mashed potatoes either too thick nor too thin....but just the right consistency so they swallow easy and don't get stuck in your throat needing a sip of water to flush them on down.
