A several hundred dollar fix to an under fifty dollar problem--that is why it is funny. Quoting: Sikhed Pretty ingenious of him though. But repairing the car's AC would probably be cheaper than the generator and a household window AC. Not really. It probably needs a compressor, condenser, new lines and new seals and of course fully charged. And good luck locating the parts. A car with an adequate air conditioning system is probably cheaper than repairing that benz. Will we even know we were alive when we're dead? Quoting: Louis in Richmond That contraption cost more than repairing the vehicle's AC. But it is amusing. That written by someone (me) that has replaced two vehicle AC compressors and gotten the AC working, and I never went to HVAC or vehicle AC school--heat transfer and fluid flow is not rocket science, it is junior high school physics. He spent more on that than simply fixing the problem. This was not a "poor people" issue. NOPE .... !! Not even close! Ever get a price quote on repairing a Mercedes AC unit on that size sedan that basically needs to be replaced? Don't think $ Hundred$$. Think $ THOUSANDS$$ (and not 1, or 2 either, think $4,000ish to $5,000iah) I have no idea why it is so expensive but I decided right then and there that was LAST Mercedes I would EVER own!! |

That would really be cold in the cab part! But how could he be street legal without being about to see out the back and use his rear view mirror? Why didn't cops bag him? And why was his truck unattended while parked at the store? Anyone could have lifted the genny and been gone! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77831632 Bet the truck had towing mirrors. Perfectly legal. Everyone that commented on my post is correct. I graduated with honors in physics which included heat transfer and fluid flow, not everyone does nor knows how to repair air conditioning. Sometimes I can be really dumb in believing the general public is smarter than they are or has 'military grade' scavenging skills. I remember the "good old days" when a roll of duct tape and a piece of baling wire were a part of one's "emergency supplies" along with a set of jumper cables etc. "I have come to the conclusion that all news should be treated like 9/11, assume it is a psyop with actors participating in a staged event complete with props, until proven otherwise, in which case assume whatever is being recorded, reported, televised, is distortions/lying by omission/outright lies, until proven otherwise." - Anonymous, 4-13-12 |
