Any Spanish rice and beans recipe will do it.
You need to start with a sofrito base.
I even add corn cut right off the husk sometimes.
Look it up.
OR
New Orleans style red beans and rice.
You do need a ham hock, or bone or even a steak, to make it super yummy.

Cook beans with a bit of sea salt, cumin, black pepper, a bit of turmeric, Cheyenne pepper, Spanish or smoked paprika and/or some garlic powder oregano seasoning.

Cook rice with some sea salt...

Add hot southwest salsa, heated, with some cheese on top of the bean, rice and salsa mix...

Frankfurters also go well with beans & rice.

So basically add some spices and hot southwest salsa, and if possible some cheese to taste. Or some cilantro also, if the salsa doesn't have any, most of these are fresh ingredients though, not so much for stocking food, apart from the salsa.

Butter in beans and rice? Love garlic and olive oil is terrific. Do these things go in the beans, or in the rice cooked separately?

I make my basmati rice with garlic, pink salt, and avocado oil... mmmmmm!

Sounds so good! Time to stock up on any form of ham bone we can find, stick in freezer for future reference. More the merrier!

Since you probably won't be raising livestock after the SHTF you can spice up those beans and rice with the meat of some scavengers and a little Frank's Hot Sauce.

That is the way to eat beans although my gaseous emissions would be nonstop. My system is not designed for beans or rice or garlic

This recipe is awesome. I don't put the cumin in. It's like sweet and sour beans and rice with veggies. It has only gotten 5 star reviews.

I don't put the chili powder in it either. I haven't tried it with those things yet tho.

Your ideas are great, and the fact that you love beans and rice make me very curious if I could come to that point as well. How do you cook pinto beans? They were on a great sale so I have a quantity. Nobody has mentioned them - are they like the worst bean ever or something? Should I hide them lest people think I am an Okie or ridge runner or some such?

Everybody’s suggestions are amazing, I love beans! This is something different to try that I absolutely love.

Take 2 cups of cooked beans, i usually use kidney for this but any kind will do. Add 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard, 2 tablespoons maple syrup and 2 tablespoons soy sauce. Mix. You don’t want it watery and you don’t want it dry either you want it to be a little juicy.

Cook short brown rice a little on the dry side so it’s chewy and not mushy. Just add a little less water when you’re cooking
When it’s cooked Sprinkle on the top ground up sesame seeds and salt.
Eat them separately don’t mush them all together.

Beans are best if you soak them overnight, drain the water and add new water and then cook them slowly for several hours. Never add salt until they’re cooked almost all the way through. For most beans I always add in the beginning of cooking a large onion, several cloves of garlic and a couple bay leaves. Season after they are cooked with whatever you want or nothing because they’re good that way too!

So any particular varmint better than others? Coyote for example - any good? Not going for any rats or relatives, thanks.
