Sol and Saturn entered opposition transit yesterday
At the time of the earthquake last evening (20:20PST), Saturn was rising in opposition transit to the Sunset. I just thought I would mention this means that the earth is aligned directly between Saturn and the Sun right now, which could denote added gravitational pressures on the planet. This opposition transit will not be over until July 15th.

Re: Sol and Saturn entered opposition transit yesterday
Technically speaking, if you are one of those that considers 10 degrees, or one classical decan, as a conjunction/opposition, then Saturn/Sol entered opposition transit before yesterday. However, Saturn began moving into the true opposition/conjunction territory of about 5 degrees on July 4th. It will peak on the 9th-10th. Moves out of true opposition around the 15th.

I pray you're right. That would be really nice if you were.

I'm just keeping an eye on the current transits. Not predicting, observing.

Not to mention solar aphelion and lunar perigee on July 4th.

Lots of gravitational forces at play.

I noticed aphelion, too. Let's see, I'll have to check...when was new moon, like the 2nd wasn't it?

But yesterday when I was watching the OpenAstro animation I have running on the Linux laptop, I really noticed that right at the time of the earthquake both Sol and Saturn were right on opposite horizons entering this opposition.

I think you're right. There are major gravitational forces at work.

Now, if I just knew what gravity was...

Good versus Evil
 Quoting: Adytum

Either that, or Saturn is working in a similar manner to the tidal force that Luna exerts upon earth when she is in opposition.

I realize that Saturn is much farther away than the Moon, but it is also exponentially bigger.

But, yes, good vs evil, too.

Re: Sol and Saturn entered opposition transit yesterday
This is just a sidenote to anyone looking for opensource astrology applications for historical research. I actually had Maitreya 8 opened up on Ubuntu, not OpenAstro. Forgot which application I was running.

But, Maitreya has included the option for adding the Swiss Ephemeris, which can track planet positions with high accuracy all the way back to 5401 BC. This is extremely helpful if you are dealing with ancient Chaldean or Egyptian astrological records and need a quick and dirty confirmation. Extremely useful little application in light of historical research.

Re: Sol and Saturn entered opposition transit yesterday
I just found something interesting in Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos. Ptolemy does appear to suggest that both Saturn and Mars in transiting in opposition to the great luminaries (Sol/Luna) and stationed in an earth sign (which Capricorn is) can cause earthquakes.

[link to www.sacred-texts.com]
Ptolemy's (c. AD 100-170) (Tetrabiblos Book IV, Chap. VIII

Saturn and Mars, if controlling the luminaries, and, especially, if placed distant from each other, 1 will produce great dangers, and at the same time render the journey fruitless and unavailing. Should they be in watery signs, the dangers will arise by shipwreck, or among deserts and wilderness 2; if in fixed signs, by precipices, and adverse blasts of wind; in tropical and equinoctial signs, by want of food and other necessaries, and by some unwholesome state of the atmosphere; in signs of human form, by robbery, treachery, and various depredations; and, if in terrestrial signs, by the attack of wild beasts, or from earth-quakes.

+++the Latin of Perugio says, "si sint oppositi secundum longitudinem." [if they are in opposition to one another in longitude]

CHAPTER XIV
The tropical signs are two : viz. the first thirty degrees after the summer solstice, which compose the sign of Cancer ; and the first thirty-degrees after the winter solstice, composing the sign of Capricorn. These are called tropical^ because the Sun, after he has arrived at their first points, seems to turn, and to change his course towards a contrary latitude ; causing summer by the turn he makes in Cancer, and winter by that which he makes in Capricorn.

These positions are affecting all with placements in the cardinal signs.

They are in cardinal signs. Jupiter is in his home sign of Sagittarius right now. Saturn is comfortably cold in his home sign of Capricorn. The Sun has just made the summer turn in Cancer. Saturn in opposition to Sol in the earth sign of Capricorn Ptolemy does note can portend unfortunate happenings, earthquakes being among them.

The distance of the earth from the sun right now means that Saturn has more pull. We'll have to see if there is some more activity especially around the 9th and 10th when this opposition is closest.

Keep an eye on this Mercury/Mars conjunction as well.

Don't let the government get you down. If something gets your goat, just keep moving forward.

The planets are not fortune tellers, but weather statements through which God works.

Revelation 2 - To the Church of Smyrna

8And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the First & Last, who was dead, and is alive again;

9I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are the Jewes, and are not, but are the Synagogue of Satan.

10Fear none of the things that thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation for ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a laurel crown of life.

11He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that conquereth shall not be hurt by the Second Death.

Re: Sol and Saturn entered opposition transit yesterday
They say Shabtai is the great misfortune, but it is only so to those not prepared. For Shabtai itself denotes a preparation and an establishment. It is the established one, the resting one. Shabtai denotes a cutting off the former. They say it is a harbinger of death, but it may rather be described as a harvest, a cutting off, a breaking away of that which is already dead.

The old name for Saturn was Kiyyun, which denoted a fixation, a stillness, a repose, an immovable point. And there are times when we simply need to hear the still small voice of that which is both established and fixed unto the Aeons.
