but Northridge had fires, building collapse, gas line breaks, water line breaks, freeways collapse, so if you wait till the last minute it will fucken suck.

I get the idea this 6.6 is a sign of bigger quakes to come the same thing happened in japan, 2 days before the 9.1 there was a 6.5 in the same spot, nobody payed attention and the problem got bigger

prep or get out. I'd sell my property while its still worth something and move to Nevada.

I figure the first week will be street to street gun battles so any supplies you have won't really matter. I will gather what I need a long the way.

Water will be ez to get if you know where it is.

Any body living in Southern CAl always needs to be prepped. and anybody under oroville and shasta and the rest of the dams need to stay prepped. Anyone living along any levies keeping the sea need to be prepped.

If South California suddenly drops into the sea all at once.. you should have moved out long ago.

unfortunately northridge did have some looters so safety in numbers with family/neighbors

They won't report for duty. In a real dire situation, they are the first to bug out. Like what happened with Katrina.

Something cool, is a dc to ac inverter it makes your car a electrical generator with jumper cables connected, it can power most of your house. I have 2 each 4000 watt, car needs to be running, so keep some extra gas. Great for emergency and camping way smaller than a generator its like the size of a shoe box. I am a electrical contractor and have built hundreds of things with mine permanently installed under the seat of my van, So handy. Harbor freight for $300 on sale $150 ish that's the one i have in the van for years. the other one is a full sign-wave way more expensive from a solar set up, it is my back up.

If you can get gas it would be great, once the pumps are up and running you'll see long lines.

it would be hard to report for duty for many reasons but i'm sure they will do what they can even when not on 'duty'

What do you know about it 5%..your preps consist of extra AA batteries for your vibrating butt-plug and poppers for when you have the pool boy over.

Add on a shovel if you're thinking weeks with no power.

Even if you don't live in SoCal but in the US, I'd say it's at least time to give a once over on everything and up your readiness to at least paying attention. Any major quake will cause problems. It's a densely populated, highly productive area (I know I know...jokes aside though) with a lot of agriculture, technology, and business (think ports, all the stuff coming from China) in one region. A major quake can slow or even stop all of that.

You may not be directly affected by the quake, but if your store can't restock because the shipment has no place to dock, it'd be beneficial to identify this now and make provisions.

There is also the (slight) chance that the energy could move into the interior. Now's the time to ask yourself if you live near an area that can have earthquakes and what to do. Refresh those plans in people's heads.

i remember my elementary school eq drills, duck and cover head under the table and wrap your foot around the tables leg to prevent it from moving away
