Happy 4th of July!

My small town in NC has a parade this morning -- our annual tradition. Get there early, pop our shade tent in front of the library on Main Street, set up chairs and lay blankets on the sidewalk for kids.

There will be lots of local sheriff vehicles, fire trucks, local politicians, classic car clubs, local businesses, churches, and large groups of dancing kids from various dance and gymnastics studios. School is out so no marching bands, other than the small ensemble from the nearby Military Academy high school.

Thousands of people lining the street wearing red, white, and blue.

We take extra little bags to give to kids around us who have not been there before and don't know they need one -- to collect all the candy the parade participants hand out.

It lasts three hours, believe it or not! Going to be super hot and muggy, but we wouldn't miss it!

Yes, the day in 1996 we were invaded by aliens.
