The president in his recent interviews with George Stephanopolous on ABC a few weeks ago and more recently with Chuck Todd on NBC has merely alluded to his political foes and the leftwing and rightwing.

Trump jibed at Stephanopolous for being a "wise guy" and he told Todd he was into "common sense" and could be called a "conservative." But that was the extent of his political plainspeak.

In July 2019, that now comes off like a person who has a crazy aunt in the attic (and whose name is Aunt Liberalism) and everyone tiptoes around the topic.
