Bought a new turntable, but there is a problem! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77340391 United States 05/25/2019 10:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No auxillary on this receiver, but there is a video/DAD spot, so thanks for the info, I think I will try that. This Denon is pretty old, over 20 years, and my last Panasonic turntable was close to 40 years old, which is why I went with Panasonic again. It was half the cost of the Technics! I have maybe 400 or so vinyls from the 70's to the early 90's, and like to listen to them now and again! Quoting: bigD111 Does it have a model number? It's a Denon DRA350. 110 watt! I have Bose 501 speakers. your fucked |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76281501 United States 05/25/2019 10:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The turntable has a pre-amp, so it can't be hooked up to the phono jack, as they say this will cause distortion. They say to hook it up to the Aux. jack, but there is not such a thing on my receiver/amp. It does have a video hook up, so wondering if that would work? Any thoughts on this. The receiver is a Denon, and the new turntable is a Pioneer. Quoting: bigD111 Get rid of the turntable. If it has a built in preamp, it is junk. Get a used Dual turntable off ebay. Problem SOLVED! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77310177 Interesting. I have never dealt with a pre amp before. Gonna run up the road and have a few beers with a friend. Be back later. I have Bose 501 speakers. Use the Video/DAD input (one red, one white). You could also use inputs labelled CD, DVD, TV, etc. Pretty much anything but the phono. DAD was companies getting ready to accept digital music - eventually the CD was designated as the primary format. Denon's DAD inputs might be superior to a typical AUX input. It would also be excellent for a CD (or any of the competing formats back then). |
