What's the thought behind continuing to use it, knowing what you do now?

I will continue to use 56 for some things, but will never update or install a newer version of firefox.

Their attempts to leverage their control of a browser for liberal lgbtbbq social justice warrior agenda puts firefox in the trash bin (with chrome) where it belongs.

Click on Help and then about Firefox to see what version you have. It isn't about tech skills it's about not being a dumb ass.

It's too bad, I'm wearing an old ratty Netscape 6 tshirt right now.

I see other browsers lately making it more and more difficult to bypass their auto-updating.

It's unnerving

That is an old shirt. thumbs

I agree, it is too bad. SJW types took over at firefox a long time ago, even pushing out one of the founders over political differences (he went on to create B r a v e).

There's quite a few browser options these days that don't push an agenda, nanny filters, or updates unless you want them.

I really like Pale Moon, for a vintage style Mozilla based browser.

SRWare Iron is a good Chrome based browser that won't even connect to it's own servers to look for updates unless you install an update checker add on.

B r a v e and Slimjet are a couple other good Chrome based options.
