It was a 1940's home of a rich person. I was struck by what a rich person lived like back then. Two car garage. Normal, everyday bathrooms and kitchen. Not even a huge house. The only difference, really, to an "average" person of today is that there was a room for a maid. I wasn't around in the 40's but I've been around a long time. We were "upper middle class" in the 1960's. We had one TV, two phones, one camera, one stereo, 1.5 bathrooms. We got 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of sneakers for back to school. My mother wore the same winter coat for 20 years. there is NO WAY we would have afforded cell phone plans back then. You take a lot for granted, if you think average people don't live an above-average life in the USA. If you are average in the US today...You won the lottery dude |

On my block, you could walk around at night. We all knew each other and were neighborly. And I also prospered into my 20's and 30's too. Maybe thing's a are a bit expensive now, but the point is they have so much added to the quality of life WE didn;t have. I remember air raid sirens going off being tested too. It was scary for a little kid. There is just no comparison to what we went through compared to generations before or after. It definitely got better. I think she hit the nail on the head! I hope everyone passes this along. They need to WAKE EFF UP!!! Living has taught me one thing; nothing is certain...except salvation through Jesus Christ! |
