Hello everyone, if you dont know me, I am ______'s sister/ brother.

Like you , I am deeply affected by _____'s passing. It was totally unexpected and I am heartbroken.

As I get older myself, I choose to think of the great times we had together when we were kids , which seems like yesterday, but in another way was such a long long time ago.

Insert funny story here about your brother and watch for the audience to laugh and laugh yourself as well. Keep going on stories as this is what people want to hear, they want to hear funny memories, not sadness and canned BS

Insert another story about your brother, near the end of his life and your relationship with them. Be honest.Especially if you were estranged.

In closing I would like to say thank you for all that turned out and I appreciate it, I know that _________ is laughing at all of us crying over him.

End it with an I love you to your brother.

OP - even if this is a private moment and no big funeral - do the same - remind yourself of the funny and cute moments you shared - and acknowledge the state of your relationship to yourself. One thing about unexpected death is we always thought there would be MORE TIME to be close - or repair - or enjoy a relationship
I have a close friend who lost her brother unexpectedly from a fatal stroke - and it was very difficult. She had spent almost a year near him making plans for retirement travel and they Planned to move to Florida together - he was married but wife spent most days at her house of worship. He found companionship with his sister and she with him. Everything changed after he died - no move - no trips- no companion-
But she treasures that last year they spent "conspiring" and planning a great old time together just like they were kids again.
The wife gave her nothing of his - and did not let her participate in the funeral - jealous they had some fun together. Sad. Pray for her too- not onlynis herb either gone - her whole future is changed - and less easy.

Catholics and Mormons are big on it

I believe the soul is immortal

Prayer can't hurt

Pray for the living left behind mostly
