unless you're a student or postgrad that stays on at university forever doing research.
Because thats what smart people do if they have any free time, they read news articles or read a good book or learn an instrument or learn a new skill.
So really these research students get an unfair amount of free time, and we need to give more people paid research jobs we could do so much more science and solve so many more problems..
it does not need to be complicated science either. I mean you could have an average person studying how many bees they see in their garden each day and what they are doing, or measuring something, anything really to collect data, and pay them for it.

But im sure theres people working boring mundane jobs the world over that would absolutely love to get paid doing some actually exciting research in their spare time. Granted some research is boring, but is it as boring as stacking pallets of junk food all day in a warehouse?
