There's even a fungi that will clean up radiation. Don't have a link to the article, but a couple of years back, a farmer in Fukushima found that spraying his plants and soil with this fungi cleaned up the radiation. Hemp will do a good job of that as well. Things are bad enough, there is no need to make anything up. ~Fluffy "Never interrupt an enemy in the process of destroying himself." Natural, innate processes operate in all of us, in every living thing, and are constantly shifting and adapting to the environment as every living thing does. It's the system we're too immersed in to see clearly, and ultimately it rules us, chemicals and all. What is on the earth, but not of it? |

Hopefully this really helps. Thank you for posting. |

User ID: 77427246 Canada 04/05/2019 10:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I read somewhere recently that plastics break down when buried, in a landfill, way faster than they thought. But in addition to the that, and the mushrooms they also developed several enzymes and bacteria that ate plastic. Making plastics out of: hemp, flax and straw, the 3 that chair the same chemistry, means it would naturally dissolve. So many solutions, they never want to implement them however. They want massive control over your life. I will never give it. The Devil tries to convince everyone he doesn't exist. The state tries to convince everyone they cannot resist. Quoting: Fluffy Pancakes I've grown shiitake and some reishi, this might be a very cool thing to try to grow. But being from the Amazon, I am sure it would fully die in winter. Anyway, here's the link. [link to themindunleashed.com (secure)] Less than 50% While the idea sounds fantastic, some scientists have expressed hope that the plastic-consuming fungi can form the basis of the community waste treatment centers of the future–replacing our current practice of dumping our trash into centralized, massive landfills with small, mushroom-centered community composting centers or even home recycling kits, according to Epoch Times. And as it turns out, Pestalotiopsis microspora isn’t alone in the world of plastic-eating mushrooms–and some of its plastic-consuming kin are event perfectly safe for us humans to consume. In a study led by Katharina Unger for Utrecht University in the Netherlands, oyster mushrooms and other types of mushrooms were placed in agar cups with plastic waste and held in a climate-controlled dome-shaped environment. After about a month, the roots of the mushroom consumed and transformed the plastic into an edible biomass–or food–that was completely free of any toxicity from the polyurethane. And if thats not cool enough, mushrooms are used to transmute radiation into chemical energy for growth and gradually heal the environment in places like chernobyl. [link to www.scientificamerican.com (secure)] "Like plants that grow toward the sun, dark fungi, blackened by the skin pigment melanin, gravitate toward radiation in contaminated soil. " "Organisms that make melanin have a growth advantage in this soil," "The presumption has always been that we don't know why truffles and other fungi are black," Casadevall says. "If they have some primitive capacity to harvest sunlight or to harvest some kind of background radiation a lot of them would be using it." Melanin drinks in ultraviolet rays, acting as a natural sunblock for human skin. "Melanin is very good at absorbing energy and then dissipating it as quickly as possible," says Jennifer Riesz, a biophysicist at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. "It does this by very efficiently changing the energy into heat." But Casadevall and his colleague Ekaterina Dadachova, a nuclear chemist at Einstein, speculate that the melanin in this case acts like a step-down electric transformer, weakening the energy until it is useable by the fungi. "The energy becomes … low [at] a certain point where it can already be used by a fungus as chemical energy," Dadachova argues. "Protection doesn't play a role here. It is real energy conversion." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 44753432 United Kingdom 04/05/2019 11:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Holy mushroom shit! More study is needed to confirm whether fungi will be able to add the ability to grow by harvesting radiation to their list of seeming superpowers, but it does raise the question of whether edible fungi—like mushrooms—have been harboring this function undiscovered for years. If true, melanin could be genetically engineered into photosynthetic plants to boost their productivity or melanin-bearing fungi could be used in clothing to shield workers from radiation or even farmed in space as astronaut food. The group plans further tests to see if fungi with melanin are converting other wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum into energy, as well. |
