I think people were getting hurt, falling and freaking out a bit too much.. for it to really catch on.

Reminds a bit of the line from Total Recall..don't mess with your brain pal..

People play once and that's often enough..I suppose it depends on what you're playing as well..

yeah that's my point.

it didn't catch on....because it was too real!!

you ever seen anyone react like that to a ps3 video game?

my god, $100 little thing that goes over your face?

what do those research labs with $500,000 equipment got?

if you are in a good sim, your brain , even though you KNOW it's a sim, your brain tells you, it's not a sim which is VERY spooky

I will never forget the first time I played the first Silent Hill, or beating Andrew Ryan to death with a golf club..neither of those were full immersion but disturbing enough to cause physical revulsion in the moment.

To be full immersion like VR, people need to be in a space they can't hurt themselves, or break things. Jump scares, falling objects, the brain doesn't know the difference and will react. It's reflex and near impossible to stop.

The reason we do not act out our dreams is due the brain paralyzing the body so we don't.

This is mixing both in a manner that has and will, see people get hurt.

they got sims though where the women aren't animations.

they come in and sit next to you and .....it is just like the real thing.

hell people get completely psychotically immersed in second life. this would be 100 times more real.

people would have sex til they died.

also. if people play a game like that where they run around murdering people. would they actually start to murder people in real life or what?

I mean, if it's so real you can't tell the difference. what's the difference?

The Orville is not for everyone and a bit edgy...but does approach the issue of addiction to the holodeck
