Re: Your personal debt is preventing you from thinking correctly...
Be careful who you marry. It’s so nice being single again and being in full charge of my finances. When I was married I had to go default on credit cards and pay penalties and back taxes to the IRS for years. Different philosophies on debt make marriage a stressful nightmare when you can’t control all the financial decisions.

The only debt I have is car loans. House paid off, have $500K in all retirement accounts. still 25 more years to go.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70650445

I suppose you think those accounts, the house and cars actually are your property.

Too bad that is false. You litterally own nothing, it is all owned by the Federal Reserve, because you used their fiat bebt currency to get it.

But don’t let the facts and truth bother you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71408469

Well, don't let the fact that this isn't base reality and that we are just a complex hologram with a soul...play the game while you are here...
 Quoting: BRIEF

I play the game better than most and its not because I fool myself into believing bebt currency is money.

The game can be played on a universal level of unlimited abundance that requires nothing but actions and creation of my own will, spirit and mind. I do it every day.

Money is a ponzi scam, there is no other logic involved, OP.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75989704

Money is the measure of your value to society.
 Quoting: BRIEF

So the banksters are the most valuable to your society, got it cruise
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75989704

when people consent to give you money for trade.

it's not you they value, it's your work and usefulness to them. your slavery is valuable to them.

when people con you and rob you via fiat money, it is a measure of their cunning and how greatly they despise you

A new study has a whole different take on what debt relief means.

Getting rid of debt doesn’t just unburden finances, it takes a weight off the mind that clears up cognitive functioning, lessens anxiety and improves impulse control.
 Quoting: BRIEF

WOW, I'll just go get rid of my debt!!!

thank you!

Why borrow when you can pay cash?
 Quoting: BRIEF

I don't have enough savings. All my money is going into the retirement savings and car loan payments.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70677209

Dude, great savings, nice work. But, don't make the mistake of being 100% future focused. Stop saving for retirement, pay your cars off, and then enjoy life a little, while still saving some for retirement.

Head down, "25 years to go", 100% focused on numbers, is no way to go through life (particularly when you have the numbers that allow you to breathe a little.) Enjoy where you are at a bit -- you have earned it and are way ahead of the game. Always be diligent in saving, but when you're where you are at, you've earned a little joy. Everything could end tomorrow, and if it does you will feel mighty silly having spent all this time racking up numbers that don't matter in the end.

Remember, the future is conjecture and yesterday a memory. We only live in an extended string of nows. If you've the luxury, enjoy the now. Now.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76999083

Call me a freak. I'm afraid about my future honestly. I see these news articles everyday about elderly people losing their homes to pay off their medical debt. I get so nervous thinking about it. What if it happens to me someday ? I can always pay that off using my retirement savings when I get old.

Wow..

That is a dream.

I am sinking in 80,000 in debt, and work every day! THe interest rates are so high that my payments go straight to interest.

for example, the student loan - have been paying on it for 1 year so far, and after all the hundreds of dollars the initial amount of the loan has only ACTUALLY decreased 16$, everything goes to interest.

I don't know how this will ever end. I want to start a family and get a home - I consolidate as I find better deals but they only increase the years of payment.

Please enjoy your life and I hope you wake up everyday happy, singing, smiling and dreaming.

Take care.

You gotta love the credit score system in America ...

Before I paid off my $6000 debt, my credit score was 818.

After I completely paid off my debt, my credit score dropped to 803.

Then I decided to put $3000 one one of my cards, now my score is 816.

The fuckers definitely WANT you to be in DEBT, don't they??!

No. Warren Buffet is a billionaire who began with $100
 Quoting: BRIEF

Where did he get that 100? Plus, today’s he uses everyone else’s money. Look at his holding company

He got a job and worked...the idea of money is to make it work for you by helping others grow and get their start...it's called investing and it's a real job...a fun job!

Respectfully, that's bullshit. Buffet helping others? Jesus, that's rich.

Hey, I'm all for making a buck, but call a spade a spade.

Buffet's one of the primary drivers of a system that does less to promote actual growth than it does to inflate the wealth of insiders.

My area of expertise in finance?

I'm a financial counselor.

"in what field of study, did you turn the most profit?"

I think what you are asking is what did I do to make enough extra money to invest with?

You don't need to make a ton of money, just live on less than you make and invest on a regular basis...once a month is ideal.
