I took on some debt 6ish months ago...and din't sleep soundly until it was paid back. Which it was. I can't imagine carry CC debt or monthly car payment debt, or student loan debt. How do those that do get any sleep at all? Red wine and vodka maybe! I don't have anything fancy, but our home and vehicles are free and clear. It is all about priorities. When you try to keep up with the latest trends, and rack up your debt, you are being foolish. She has a home for her and her family, totally debt free.She recently bought a Saturn Vue, used, but low miles and in great shape overall. She paid for it cash, so no car payment. NONE of my kids are in debt, and never have been. I taught them to never be a slave to debt.
