All 50 states agree to build charging stations along the 75,000 miles of highways. Goal is 50% electric vehicles sales by 2030.

Lol, excuse me while I wait to charge for 30 min to an hour chuckle

In this gym is well over 60 machines and hardly 10 people utilizing at this time. So I noticed this creepy guy that after everyone I use he gets on right after. Then I move to a row machine which will be on for a while and there he goes right directly perpendicular. I said to another if they noticed and they said they did and joked about it. I did not acknowledge in any capacity towards him except to move off of the machine and leave at that time.

Re: Light of the World. — Be the Light.
Quantum technology reaches unprecedented control over captured light

Researchers in quantum technology at Chalmers University of Technology have succeeded in developing a technique to control quantum states of light in a three-dimensional cavity. In addition to creating previously known states, the researchers are the first ever to demonstrate the long-sought cubic phase state. The breakthrough is an important step towards efficient error correction in quantum computers.

A major obstacle towards the realization of a practically useful quantum computer is that the quantum systems used to encode the information are prone to noise and interference, which causes errors. Correcting these errors is a key challenge in the development of quantum computers. A promising approach is to replace qubits with resonators—quantum systems which, instead of having just two defined states, have a very large number of them. These states may be compared to a guitar string, which can vibrate in many different ways. The method is called continuous-variable quantum computing and makes it possible to encode the values 1 and 0 in several quantum mechanical states of a resonator.

However, controlling the states of a resonator is a challenge with which quantum researchers all over the world are grappling. And the results from Chalmers provide a way of doing so. The technique developed at Chalmers allows researchers to generate virtually all previously demonstrated quantum states of light, such as for example Schrödinger's cat or Gottesman-Kitaev-Preskill (GKP)states, and the cubic phase state, a state previously described only in theory.

The quantum mechanical properties of the photons are controlled by applying a set of electromagnetic pulses called gates. The researchers first succeeded in using an algorithm to optimize a specific sequence of simple displacement gates and complex SNAP-gates to generate the state of the photons. When the complex gates proved to be too long, the researchers found a way of making them shorter using optimum control methods to optimize the electromagnetic pulses.

"The drastic improvement in the speed of our SNAP gates allowed us to mitigate the effects of decoherence in our quantum controller, pushing this technology one step forward. We have shown that we have full control over our quantum mechanical system," says Simone Gasparinetti.

Or, to put it more poetically:

"I captured light in a place where it thrives and shaped it in some truly beautiful forms," says Marina Kudra.

Humans Are Descended From Sharks, Scientists Reveal

Scientists have revealed that an ancient shark with paired spines and bony armor may be humans’ earliest ancestor. The Paleozoic fossil was retrieved from a site in Shiqian County in Guizhou Province, South China. With the finding, scientists have come to understand the existence of human sharks.

Hundreds of ancient artifacts seized from home in northern Israel

The inspectors also found 2,000-year-old signet rings and bronze objects in the shape of Medusa, the mythical gorgon. The Antiquities Authority believes that the artifacts were stolen from tombs that had been sealed for thousands of years.

The Robbery Prevention Unit has conducted a large-scale operation in recent months to thwart the illegal trade of antiquities around the country, with 35 suspects arrested so far and over 60,000 ancient artifacts seized.

Astronomers just found the remains of one of the universe's first stars

This particular quasar is ancient even in astronomical terms. According to a study published in 2020, it’s 13.1 billion light years away, so astronomers see it as it looked 13.1 billion years ago, or about 700 million years after the Big Bang. ULAS J1342+0928 is the second-oldest quasar that astronomers have discovered so far. (The oldest is called P172+18.)

And according to Yoshii and his colleagues, it may contain direct evidence of something even older: one of the first generation of stars that ever formed.

And that’s what Yoshii and his colleagues say they’ve found in the spectrum of the quasar ULAS J1342+0928: the chemical fingerprint of one of the first stars in the universe, which formed about 100 million years after the Big Bang, and later collapsed and exploded in a pair-instability supernova when the universe was still just a tiny fraction of its current age.

WHY IT MATTERS – The period when the first stars flared to life is still a bit of a mystery to physicists, at least when it comes to specific details. Even with an extremely powerful telescope like the James Webb Space Telescope, the universe’s oldest stars are nearly impossible targets: They’re distant, relatively faint, and hidden behind thick clouds of hydrogen. But if it’s possible to find their chemical fingerprints on objects that astronomers can see, that could open up a whole new way to study the distant past.

Hurricane Ian claims the Dali Museum’s Wish Tree in St. Petersburg

After nearly 11 years and over 20,000 wishes, the Dalí Museum’s beloved Wish Tree is no more.

The museum has power and both the staff and the artwork are safe, said marketing director Beth Bell.

The Florida ficus, however, was ripped from the Dalí’s Avant-garden before the worst of Hurricane Ian’s winds and rains reached St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

The tree is known for wearing a shaggy rainbow of wristbands, each bearing the handwritten wish of a museum guest.

This marks the fourth and final time the Wish Tree has been uprooted.

The museum had already planned to replace it. The plant has been supported by crutches and anchors since Hurricane Irma tore it out in 2017.

This is by no means an end to wishes at the Dalí. After removing the current tree, the museum plans to plant a royal poinciana tree in the north side of the garden, which will be more visible and accessible to guests. It should stand a better chance against storms.

Christopher Scarver, who killed Jeffrey Dahmer in prison, said in 2015 that he did it because Dahmer taunted inmates with food.

After 21 years, we have stopped caring exactly why Jeffrey Dahmer was killed in prison by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Jim Stingl wrote this article in 2015 about Christopher Scarver, the inmate who killed Jeffrey Dahmer in prison in 1994. Scarver, 21 years after the killing, said he did it because Dahmer taunted inmates by shaping his food into body parts.

Milwaukee's infamous serial killer is long dead and gone, and Scarver needs to live 1,000 more years to even come close to his parole date.

Done and done.

Scarver, in a federal prison in Colorado, now says he had come to hate Dahmer because he taunted other inmates by turning his food into the shapes of severed body parts, and then adding ketchup to look like blood.

The Post ran a follow-up article quoting a Madison pastor, Roy Ratcliff, saying Dahmer would tell prison guards, "I bite," and then laugh. Ratcliff also said Dahmer put up a sign in his cell that said: "Cannibals anonymous meeting tonight."
