here is a question for the "bible experts" who say Catholics don't understand the bible:

The disciples came to believe in John Chapter 3 and stopped believing in John Chapter 6.

Why did they stop believing?

In the top 10 of myths. I’ve lived in and traveled to many countries. Every church has devout faithful that do study it. And every single day at every single Mass throughout the world there are 2 readings from Old and New Testament plus a Gospel reading and the sermon is instruction on these. Not to mention the Psalms throughout, and many of our daily prayers and meditations, all based upon Holy Scripture.

The RCC's day of lent - easter (their spring feasts) have absolutely nothing to do with the Passover that YESHUA said to keep in remembrance of Him - He despises your pagan celebrations that are kept supposedly for Him. NOT!!!

The date for easter is not determined by when YESHA DIED, WAS BURIED AND ROSE ON THE THIRD DAY, But by when Tammuz was killed by a pig

The RCC is the mother of harlots

The mother of the Protesting Protestant harlots that bow to the pope when they celebrate according to the heathens calendar of the RCC

Re: Today is Ash Wednesday.
Ash Wednesday begins 40 days of Lent, a time to examine our lives and immersie in the Passion of our Saviour. Although I utilize the Stations of the Cross year round, these holy days should be especially focused on reparation, and dwelling upon His sacrifice. I find the Shroud of Turin a good focus, and gazing upon His beautiful Face.

“Remember man that you are dust and unto dust you shall return.”
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76862206

You are supposed to examine your life DAILY.. its called introspection which must be done especially when things are not comfortable. IT IS NOT REGULATED BY GAWD.. the fellow in the sky. Your savior is not what you think. You have been controlled so during Lent.. maybe examine that one.

You are saved by your desire for goodness.. morality ANd TAKING THE LIFE ETERNAL. You can be Good and moral and righteous but reject the life eternal.. THAT IS YOUR CHOICE.

He did not sacrifice himself.THAT was a MURDER ATTEMPT and HE DID NOT DIE on the CROSS.. he survived it and went on to Syria and then INDIA. He just go the hell out of dodge ....

I always thought it was so hypocritical when as a large Catholic family we went out to dinner for crab and lobster on Fridays during Lent because we couldn't eat meat. Somehow that was considered fasting. How crazy is that?

^^^THIS^^^ While we Catholics are encouraged to study the Bible, alone or in groups, we have the Magistetium (teaching body of the Church), led by the Holy Spirit, to help us understand and apply the Scriptures to our lives. If individual Bible reading alone were enough, we would each be the head of our own churches because we would each have our own interpretation and beliefs...matter of fact, that’s why there are about 50,000 Protestant denominations, with 1-2 new ones added every week.

I really don't want to argue about the Bible in this thread since it's just off topic, but here you go.

In about 367 AD, St. Athanasius came up with a list of 73 books for the Bible that he believed to be divinely inspired. This list was finally approved by Pope Damasus I in 382 AD, and was formally approved by the Church Council of Rome in that same year. Later Councils at Hippo (393 AD) and Carthage (397 AD) ratified this list of 73 books. In 405 AD, Pope Innocent I wrote a letter to the Bishop of Toulouse reaffirming this canon of 73 books. In 419 AD, the Council of Carthage reaffirmed this list, which Pope Boniface agreed to. The Council of Trent, in 1546, in response to the Reformation removing 7 books from the canon (canon is a Greek word meaning “standard”), reaffirmed the original St. Athanasius list of 73 books.

Not only was it compiled by the Catholic church, but I would argue that the original apostles were the first Catholics since the church traces itself back to St. Peter by lineage of the popes.

Nothing Lent is pagan, weeping for Tammuz for 40 days is unholy.

Follow Jesus,

Matthew 6:16-18

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

make up the Bible is abbreviated (to say the least)

To begin with, the CHURCH of Jesus Christ, is NOT
a building, or an institution, such as the apostate
institution known as the R.C.C., but it is, and
always has been, and always will be,
"THE REDEEMED".

Those who have believed in Jesus,
acknowledged Him for who He is, repented of their
sins, been BORN OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, (born again)
and sought Jesus as their one and only Savior,
such as the thief on the cross, and everyone who
followed afterward.

Roman Catholics can be among that number, as long
as they accept the Gospel, above the apostate
abominable institution into which they were born.

MANY have come out from the R.C.C. to be saved
by the Blood of Jesus Christ, and Lord Willing
all who possibly can, will.
