The Houston Bush Airport on Sunday closed the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint at one of its terminals amid the ongoing government shutdown.

"The @TSA security checkpoint at Terminal B has been closed, and passengers will be routed to either Terminal C or E," the airport said in a statement shared on its official Twitter account.

The statement added suggestions for travelers about allowing for allowing "extra time" for "check and wait times."

A spokesperson with Houston Airports told KHOU, a local ABC affiliate, that the announcement came in response to staffing issues at the airport. There are not enough agents to operate security checkpoint screenings, KHOU noted.

"TSA released the following statement about the closure:

Due to staffing issues associated with the partial shutdown of the federal government, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoint and the ticketing counter in Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental Airport closed at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, and will remain closed the rest of the day.

Flights scheduled to depart from Terminal B will operate as normal. Passengers with flights scheduled to depart from Terminal B are being directed to the ticket counters and TSA checkpoints located in Terminal C and Terminal E.

Passengers are encouraged to arrive early and give themselves extra time to check in for their flights and to clear the security checkpoints. For passengers flying out of Terminal B, once checked in passengers can walk or take the Skyway tram to Terminal B to reach their departing gate. Passengers can utilize the interactive terminal map available on fly2houston.com to help navigate their way back to Terminal B."

"If you have a flight, the airport recommends you allow extra time "

TSA is worthless anyway, since no armed guards are protecting airplanes at night. When will the TSA include this function?

Get rid of TSA altogether. My husband would be happy not to be pulled aside to have his junk grabbed 80% of the times we fly, and I would be happy not to have my children walking through x-ray machines and questioned each time. I detest going through TSA, and dressing their so-called "officers" up in stupid uniforms as part of their criminal operation to randomly question and grope people just makes the whole set-up even more repulsive.

I quit flying when TSA was introduced. This makes me hopeful.

This will be used to effectively stop air travel. Unless you are on a private jet. TSA is for the little people.
