She first fell down some stairs.. and into an errant drifting cloud of swamp-gas; hence her impaired judgement and the need for her pain-meds. It's all very logical, obviously! *nods*

I can't seem to find anything about a barbiturate OD causing bleeding. I could see it happening with some other drugs, though.

There is a rumor that her body was moved before it was "officially" found. Also there's a rumor that someone actually tried to take her to Santa Monica Hospital (I think), which of course was unsuccessful, so they returned her body to the scene.

Didn't she have a diary or something stolen from the room? Someone mucked with the scene. I assume studio people may have rearranged the scene, although who knows with the Kennedy connection who did what to the bedroom before everyone else got there.

Yes--This. I believed she was murdered but never saw those images before. Some thugs caused a violent death for her.

The second link would not load for me. In the third link, if that is MM, her hair looks like it was washed or she had just gotten out of the shower. It is straight and combed back like it was just washed and combed.

Just an observation. It has been a long time since I have read anything about her death.

Yes, they clean the body when they prepare for a funeral. All funeral homes and morges do. But yep, that looks like someone beat chit out of her. :(

1. There is nothing in your first pic to link it with Monroe's death. A random photo of a bloody towel does not a conspiracy make - especially when no blood was found in her throat/mucosa by Coroner Thomas Noguchi [read his autopsy report for yourself if you don't believe me]. I've also studied the MM case since the early 70's [yeah: I'm THAT old and remember clearly when she died!] and have never before seen that epic.

2. The two pics in your second link that are labelled "MM dead in bed" are not her. She slept in a "Hollywood" style bed that didn't have a headboard [with wooden spindles as indicated by the pictures] and that's where her body was found. Her bed was much more like a slab whith her mattress just laid on top a simple frame. Compare those two with the actual police images and you'll see they do not match. At all. MM's bedroom was also quite small - only about 8'x10' - those pics show a pair of TWIN BEDS with plenty of space around them. The room itself had two entrances - the internal door and a glass-paned door that led to a small patio [this door can be seen in one of tyhe pictures in your second link as a cop points to the latch... which has not been jimmied from a forced-entry].

But, here's what you really need to know:

This is the process that happens quickly to a recently-deceased body as the blood settles into tissues that are in direct contact with a supporting surface. The result is discolored skin that is mottled with red and blue blotches. As decomposition continues those areas become darker and darker [changing to greenish-gray] as the Proteins in the blood break down and the skin becomes virtually black in color. By this time the gases inside the body will have built up pressure and the corpse will start to expand; if no release valve is available [such as from an open wound from a bullet or knife] the gas will use the toure of least resistance to escape.... frequently from the mouth, nose or anus, but this is after internal tissues have already weakened and dissolved themselves. MM was found lying facedown with her head turned slightyl to one side... and this is why her face was discolored as shown in the police/coroner photographs.

And THIS is the answer to your question at the top of this thread.

Barbiturate overdose symptoms include Pneumonia as a result of aspiration of food or fluids into the airways of those with impaired levels of consciousness.

According to Noguchi's autopsy report MM's stomach was virtually empty - as were her bowels [fece samples were "pale and formed" which suggested she ingested a fair amount of fresh veggies/Citrus fruit before her death. The acid in Citrus fruit will actually bleach feces a lighter color as will Milk products, so Noguchi had a fair idea of her last meal]. It's important to note that when a G/I tract is as clean as MM's was, toxicology screens are much easier to analyze.

There were no significant expunged fluids found around her mouth/nose.

If she WAS murdered [and I still think the case is "open" on that one!] conventional wisdom suggests a Barbiturate was introduced anally via a suppository... but sedative vareties were not all that common at the time and were not manufactured in lethal doses [even small suppositories are pretty big and a lethal one would've been either huge or several would've been required]. Such suppositoties were most generally used on combative hard-core mental patients because it was too hard to inject them with a needle as they thrashed around. Since Noguchi didn't find evidence of any needle punctures that is the best conspiracy guess for method of administration. If she was killed by this method she was probably already out-of-it due to the Bennies she'd previously popped before hitting the sack one last time. During that infamous last phone call she made to Peter Lawford asking him to say "goodbye to Jack & Bobby" she was -according to Lawford's sworn testimony- really slurring her speech and was barely coherant.

NOW: a few words about the esteemed "Coroner to the Stars" Dr. Thomas Noguchi are in order! He was a shameless media-whore who grabbed mic/camera time whenever one was pointed his way. He was officially reprimanded several times for this [and later fired] and for some pretty sloppy work in his lab.

His handling of MM's case in particular rankled quite a few people and in several instances created as many questions as it answered. Other stars that Noguchi sliced open included Sharon Tate [where he REALLY hogged the news cameras - especially during the Manson trials], William Holden, John Belushi, Robert F. Kennedy and Natalie Wood. In all fairness, Noguchi was the only investigator who really thought Wood's death should be handled like a crime scene instead of an accidental drowning.

Today Noguchi is 91 years old; he finally retired in 1999 after a lifetime of controversy his own ego created.
