Erdogan announced an operation in Syria east of the Euphrates in the coming days

Moscow. 12 December. INTERFAX.RU - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday that “in a few days,” the Turkish military would launch an operation on Syrian territory east of the Euphrates River. “It’s time to implement our decision to eradicate terrorist groups east of the Euphrates,” the newspaper said. "Hurriyet" the words of R.T. Erdogan.

The President explained that such actions will contribute to a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

Hurriyet in turn recalls that on December 11, the Pentagon announced the deployment of observation posts in northern Syria in order to prevent clashes between the Turkish army and the US-backed Kurdish militia. Earlier, Ankara appealed to Washington not to take this step, the newspaper adds.

"Caught off guard, Erdogan cautioned Trump against a hasty withdrawal, according to one official. While Turkey has made incursions into Syria in the past, it does not have the necessary forces mobilized on the border to move in and hold the large swaths of northeastern Syria where U.S. troops are positioned, the official said."

Trump wasn't going to be strong-armed by Erdogan, which is a common NYC mafia tactic from the 1980's.

Once again Erdogan is the Middle Man.

In Benghazi it was Erdogan who arranged the homosexual tryst to occupy Stevens while he was killed and the embassy burned.

In Khashoggi it was Erdogan who promised him that he would be safe in the embassy.

Now Erdogan confesses that he cannot hold positions being used to kill Christians without US forces.

Really Erdogan. Empty sinister promises? 3 strikes! We are done with you.

TBH I never trusted Turkey... I went to school with a Turkish actor-director-type guy... his english was terrible but thank God we both spoke French, I was able to help him out around campus and in class and such, and in exchange he told me cool stories about his nation and shit.

He was an older guy, smart man, pretty knowledgable in Turkish politics and history, he even has an IMDB page. Well anyhow! Turkey is fucking corrupt AS FUCK, and the government is very mafia like. Everybody in Turkey knows it too, and this Erdogan motherfucker is just another crook who belongs behind bars.

Turkey tho being an "ally"? ROFL! I'd rather deal with the Russians thank you very much.

But yeah Turkey bad lol. Gobble gobble.

Turkey has been massing troops along the border for a couple of weeks threatening to attack the Kurds in Syria. Last week Trump cut a deal to sell Turkey the Patriot missle defense system for 3.5 billion dollars. This week he announced the US will be withdrawing its troops that have fighting along side the Kurds. The Kurds were the ground troops, the US provided air support and artillary strikes.

The Kurds are holding at least 700 Isis fighters prisoners. There is still a small pocket of Isis fighters left in Syria. Northern Syria is oil rich. When Isis occupied this land, they were making money off the oil to fund their operations.

This article gives a much broader view on the matter:

Sec. Mattis resigned because he could not obey the commander in chief's order to leave the Kurds, who have fought so bravely with US soldiers, stranded for annihilation by Turkey. God only knows what would happen if Turkey were to take over that part of Syria. Right now Turkey has control over entry into the Black sea from the Mediterranean then to Crimea. Turkey is part of NATO. US forces would once again have to send troops into the area this time going against a much bigger enemy with major loss of American lives.

Almost 7000 Kurdish YPG have been killed in Syria. That number probably goes back to 2011. I can't find stats on how many US soldiers have been killed in Syria. All I see is 3 so far.

Another article on the Patriot system purchase:

[link to www.bloomberg.com (secure)]

From article:

"Turkey is a crucial partner in the U.S.-led program to build the F-35 stealth fighter jet, with 10 Turkish companies set to produce about $12 billion in parts, including key components such as the center fuselage and some landing gear.

The White House and several members of Congress were against the idea of Turkey having both F-35s and the S-400, whose computer systems could gain -- and possibly feed back to Russia -- crucial data about the warplane. At the same time, lawmakers had successfully blocked the possibility of a Patriot deal over fear of rewarding Turkey for what was seen as its bad behavior.

The proposed deal, which must be approved by Congress, includes up to 140 Patriot missiles, radar and ground control stations. Lawmakers have 15 days to review the proposed sale under streamlined procedures the State Department has in place for NATO allies.

.... Turkey continues to detain a NASA scientist and Turkish employees of the State Department ..."

An opinion pieces from Andrew McCarty:

[link to www.nationalreview.com (secure)]

"The Kurds are a more complicated problem. We have had a good deal with the Kurds: We protect them from Turkey, they kill jihadists. I could not agree more with David (among others) that it is shameful to abandon them, and it is shame multiplied by cowardice if, as reporting indicates, Trump decided to pull out after a threat by Ankara."

....

"We knew, therefore, that conflict between Turkey and the Kurds was inevitable, that we would eventually have to make an excruciating choice, and that the freight of the NATO alliance would tip the scales in Erdogan’s favor. In fact, in the very conversation in which Erdogan advised Trump to steer U.S. troops clear of Turkey’s imminent anti-Kurd operations, Trump offered Erdogan a Patriot air- and missile-defense system in order to dissuade the Turks from completing a purchase of Russia’s S-400 missile-defense system.

Could we defy Erdogan and keep — or even beef up — the U.S. military presence to protect the Kurds (including protecting the designated terrorists with whom we’ve managed to ally)? Sure we could . . . but by what authority?"

...

"We all know the answer to this. Obama did not seek congressional authorization for combat operations in Syria because Congress would have refused. And Congress does not want any president to ask for authorization because members do not want to be accountable — they want to go on cable TV and whine that whoever is president has been heedless, whether for going in or for pulling out."

How quickly history repeats itself. About a century ago, the Turks committed genocide against Armenians. Now they will do it to the Kurds. I hope Putin gives dog faced Erdogan a good kick in the ass. Maybe Putin will liberate Istanbul and return it to its Eastern Orthodox roots of Constantinople.
