Some interesting questions about 'the council' above. The OP knows that there's something very wrong with the council because he said quite specifically he'll be carefully avoiding them on his next de-incarnation. Given the lesson above I can see that being talked into another journey through the mincer is best avoided.
I'm also puzzled why anyone gives the council any power - did anyone vote for them? Or is it an example of 'As above, so below' where we are surrounded by idiot councils messing up the local infrastructure, getting fooled by corporations on lighting and transport projects and being rather too naive to deal with the predators who surround them?

Earth has a recurring theme best summed up by people like Nancy Pelosi, Musk etc. All the influential power brokers and types of people any visitor would ask to talk to from a 'take me to your leader' standpoint are compromised, corrupt and largely stupid. ALL the true wisdom on Earth is held by the ordinary people, people who are too interested in engineering, art, music etc to ever become corrupt puppet 'leaders'.
I.e. these various groups are talking with the biggest egos, the most greedy and corrupt by the simple fact that it takes that on Earth to reach those positions: no one else stands a chance. Apart from threads like this of course: this is why they are valuable and why they are done, it's like drilling a core down through a rubbish tip and finding out what's below the decomposing refuse. Possibly that's why many are slightly dazed as the light hurts their eyes having spent so long in the dark, buried under a mound of political fallout.
