You forget that Love is the sum of all emotions/experiences, including pain and suffering. True love has experienced all possible forms of existence, from the most painful to the most serene. As such, any experience can take place due to love.

You do not have to love God, actually if you love yourself you already love God. The trick is to see God in yourself, not outside of yourself, hence most religions are misguiding you. You cannot love God truly until you love yourself truly. Also giving any name to God is misguided as he has no name. Jesus Christ is only one aspect of what we call God.
