We stopped allowing any vegetables on ordered food from restaurants over these issues. First it was stopping the uncooked ones then, it included even the cooked ones like caramelized vegetables. Now it is becomes that for hamburger and chicken and even turkey. The most precious things are the simple things in life, always present in the simplest of minds. |

(OP) User ID: 77132892 United States 11/20/2018 03:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The CDC is advising consumers not to eat any romaine lettuce, and retailers and restaurants should not serve any because an outbreak of E.coli is being linked to it. If you have symptoms of an E. coli infection: Talk to your healthcare provider. Write down what you ate in the week before you started to get sick. Report your illness to the health department. Assist public health investigators by answering questions about your illness. ~political correctness is merely an infringement upon my First Amendment! ~When a Gun Culture Fails, A Rape Culture Prevails. |

(OP) User ID: 77132892 United States 11/20/2018 03:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What is E. coli O157:H7? E.coli O157:H7 is a Shiga-toxin-producing (STEC) E. coli. The symptoms of STEC infections vary for each person but often include severe stomach cramps and bloody diarrhea. If there is fever, it is usually not very high (less than 101 degrees Fahrenheit/less than 38.5 degrees Celsius). Most people get better within 5–7 days. Some infections are very mild, but others are severe or even life-threatening. Around 5–10 percent of those who are diagnosed with STEC infection develop a potentially life-threatening complication, known as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Symptoms of HUS include fever, abdominal pain, feeling very tired, decreased frequency of urination, small unexplained bruises or bleeding, and pallor. Most people with HUS recover within a few weeks, but some suffer permanent damage or die. People who experience these symptoms should seek emergency medical care immediately. Persons with HUS should be hospitalized because their kidneys may stop working (acute renal failure), but they may also develop other serious problems such as hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and neurological problems. fyi. ~political correctness is merely an infringement upon my First Amendment! ~When a Gun Culture Fails, A Rape Culture Prevails. |

(OP) User ID: 77132892 United States 11/20/2018 04:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Do a quick GLP search on Romaine and there are threads from January, April, June and August of this year with warnings regarding Romaine Lettuce. I think it may be time to just give it up and grow my own. Good Plan! Lettuce is cool-season crop that grows well in the spring and fall in most regions. Lettuce seedlings will even tolerate a light frost. Temperatures between 45°F and 65°F are ideal. Because lettuce grows quickly, the best approach is to plant a small amount at a time, staggering your plantings.
