Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury (WBC Heavyweight belt defense on 12-01-18)
Scheduled for the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Dec 1, 2018. Deontay Wilder's Heavyweight belt is up for grabs that evening.

Should be a good match, regardless of the odds on this (of which I haven't looked yet).

I did watch a few of the Showtime stuff/vids on both, and some highlight videos.

Neither fighter is very polished or refined, compared to a Mayweather or a Ray Leonard or an Ali. These guys are pretty rough around the edges (in the ring) if you compare them to previous champions.

Wilder is pure offense, and has one hell of a right hand (39 wins by knockout in 40 matches). Fury, the self-proclaimed 'Gypsy King' is just bizarre to watch (for me) and has a very unorthodox 'style'. He's off the cocaine and booze now, and back after his old belt after relinguishing the title belts in early 2016 (a ban).

(Past-Champion over Klitschko) Tyson Fury was mostly inactive since 2015, and hasn't fought or done any SERIOUS tune-ups for this. Although he did fight Francesco Pianeta on Aug 18th of this year, an easy decision-win over 10 rounds. Is he making a major and critical mistake by not fighting a ranked contender (BEFORE taking on Wilder)?

In any case .. "styles make fights", right?

The boxing business individuals and boxing celebs seem divided on this one; no consensus as yet.

I know that if it is stopped under 4 or 5 rounds, Wilder will likely win. A 12-round fight may help Fury - assuming he somehow avoids/survives Wilder's RH bombs for 12.

Opinions and /or predictions?

Fury isn't just self-proclaimed - he really IS The Gypsy King, which is to say the champion boxer among all the Irish gypsies.

If he puts away Wilder he can actually lay claim to possibly being the greatest fighter of all time - yes, I mean over Ali, Foreman, Louis, all of them.

Just a little over one week away now..

Is this Heavyweight fight of any interest?

Sorry, can't find any real conspiracies in this one...

Is it rigged for TF? ... Is THAT a conspiracy??

I need to see what LV and London have, odds-wise, on this one...

If this were a heavyweight MMA Title match ... would there be any more interest???

What if either guy took on McGregor?

Would THAT sell??

Back in the 1970s these title fights were much talked about for weeks beforehand, with guys like Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Holmes, Lyle, Spinks, etc..

Life in 2018 is just one big video game, I suppose...

I’ll go with that too. I don’t really like either fighter but defensively Fury is better, or should I say less kamikaze. You never know, Wilder may catch him early but my guess is Fury will slowly grind Wilder down until either Wilder has to try & unleash & leaves himself wide open or it goes the distance.

Wilder would be no match for AJ but I would like to see that.

Either way it has all the hallmark of being pretty dull. I heard a whisper of a Pacquiao Mayweather rematch. For that one I’m on the plane, don’t think there is much call for it though.

I would watch the stream but last time it went down in the UK so unless I can find 2 different streams then I won’t bother. Hope both walk away ok.

Oh, & Don King still needs the electric chair, or hanging, not fussed.

This match is about 27 hours away now.

I don't think it will be boring.

Wilder will be going for the knockout, and Fury will likely go for the points and the judges' cards.

Can Fury take Wilder's hardest RH and shake it off when it comes...

Wilder is deceptively sneaky & unpredictable with his right, and Fury has to keep either adequate distance or his defensive posture (& focus) up at all times - while still getting his own shots in.

After the fight is over, Showtime will probably be asking either if they will fight AJ very soon (or NEXT, since AJ already beat Klitschko this year).

And will it be controversial enough tomorrow night to support a rematch (next year)?

Well it could go either way. But let’s face it, we don’t have a Mike Tyson anymore so very little can be exciting, now those were the days, oh my goodness, that was when the greats were out in force.

Greatest boxer of all time? Probably goes to Ali, greatest boxer of all time, that has to go to Tyson, without a doubt nobody in history on their best day could stand up to Tyson on his.

We haven’t had the best 15-20 years of boxing, Lewis spiced it up a bit. In the heavyweight div I mean, Manny, Floyd & alike have kept the other weights alive but for the big guns, we simply won’t see another Mike. Promoters have too much to do with it now.

Enjoy the fight.

I forgot to add.

I wasn’t too long ago when pre match interviews were conducted as they were, not with all the bad acting, nonsense staging & sugarglass & fake blood flying around lol.

I watched the Holyfield Tyson fight live, now that was controversy lol. What the camera didn’t catch, there are still some clips on YouTube of the pandemonium in the ring after the second bite. Crazy times.

I remember a power-glider flying in & landing on the ropes, & Golota refusing to get off his stool to fight & his trainer giving him a good slapping lol.

I mentioned that I don’t really like Fury or Wilder, that’s not strictly true, I don’t like them as fighters but Fury is actually a good bloke, shit actor & a dull fighter but a good bloke.

Agree with everything you said. I saw Tyson-Holyfield live at a friend's house. That was crazy. Also saw Tyson-Douglas live and Tyson-Ruddock and Tyson-Spinks all on PPV. Tyson didn't hit as hard as Shavers or Foreman, but he was way faster and much more unpredictable/deadly. He went downhill after D'Amato died, and Rooney couldn't keep him focused long enough, starting with the 1990 Tokyo Dome debacle.

I'm not a big Fury or a Wilder fan, either. You wonder how Ali or Tyson or Foreman would do against these two.

Tyson always had some challenging matches against tall guys who could BOX. Like Lennox Lewis and Buster Douglas and Bonecrusher Smith and Tony Tucker.

Holyfield had his day at one time, but then he fell to Riddick Bowe (1st fight), James Toney, Lennox Lewis, Michael Moorer, John Ruiz, and a few others late in his career.

Hard to say who was the best heavyweight of all time. They all had their ups and downs thru their boxing careers.

As was Roy Jones Jr thru his long career. He was perhaps the most spectacular overall boxer that I've ever seen, but only when he was in his prime. His handspeed, awareness, and confidence was off the charts.

If Tyson Fury boxes Wilder, and moves, and gives Wilder awkward angles and plenty of head-movement, Fury can win.

Wilder will be looking to land his bombs when Fury is relaxed and has his hands down. Or waiting for Fury to make a mistake and not protect himself in some way. Exposing his own chin during an offensive or not keeping his feet & weight centered & balanced at any time.

One key mistake is all it takes for a heavyweight to end it quickly. As 12 rounds is a LONG time to not make a single mistake...

Ultimately, I think that whoever studies the other guy in the weeks beforehand, and then adapts an effective countering-strategy therein, will be the decisive factor & win in this thing.

That's always a possibility, especially when Las Vegas gets involved..

Gambling-interests manifest the fix sometimes if too damn much money is involved.

Not always, but have seen it way too many times over the years.

If Wilder lands that right it’s over, otherwise, awkward Fury wins by a decision. Which will it be?

The surest way of picking fights is to determine what result will make the most money - long term - for the promoters. There are no names in the HW division that will bring in more money than these two, so, I suspect they will plan on this fight being the first of three.

It’s tough to say who will win the first fight. Wilder is an American which is always good for $. On the other hand it would be difficult to make the case for a rematch if the champ keeps his belt.

So, I’m going Fury by decision.

Yep, like you say, drag it out like an Ali vs Frazier & the payday stays high. If Wilder wins then there will be a big payday for the AJ fight but only the one as AJ will take that relatively easily & his team will not be interested in re-matches. Wilders team know this so the long term money is with Fury.

Whenever it comes to big money, big business codes the software lol. Sport, pharma, Government and the like.

The ‘House’ always wins in the end.

Could you imagine if a fighter suddenly emerges that dominates the division & inspires fear in everyone. Not wanting to sound like a conspiracy nut, but that fighter would suddenly find a life of drugs, drink & goodness knows what else. A fighter like this would only find journeymen to fight, promoters wouldn’t be interested in Title fights. Very sad really.

Never forget ‘bankers are always more than happy to fund both sides of a war’.

I agree with you, it will not be boring. I think there is a chance to be one of the most exciting heavyweight fights in history.

Fury will be knocked out. Fury was down against Pajkic who has 28% KO ratio and Cunningham who is a cruiserweight, so when Wilder starts landing his bombs it is inevitable for Fury to go down.
