Do you live in your bugout place?
I'm interested in finding out how many GLPers already are living in their bugout place.

I am. But may need to find another person to help with upkeep, and continuing prepping for possible SHTF scenarios.

I'm not sure if I should consider that option, as I do like living alone with my animals.

I welcome any words of wisdom, and useful advice.

Right now I am too, Des.

It's sounds like you have answered your own question..."as I do like living alone with my animals."

If possible try looking at alternative ways to meet the goal you are seeking (help with upkeep...etc.)

If you are alone, could it be that your closer to that goal than you think? Also, if alone, could you do without x or y?

You know your situation best, and look inward for your guidance!

I'm there right now. (doomstead, of course). It's beautiful here this time of year, getting things ready for winter, bringing in the last of the apples and quince, canning and pie making. Cutting firewood and stacking things that are seasoned to feed the wood stove when it's colder.

Spending about 50% of time here. Want it to be 100%. I'm with you, OP.

Yep!

We have a tight community of around 400 and since the massive flood in April destroyed our only road, we now live in a protected paradise. Going to be at least another year before the road is repaired and only residents allowed in and out via a slooooow one lane convoy several times a day.

That sounds real nice!

I'm in the middle of a National Forest, Appalachian Mnts.

I've got my small and large meat smokers set up. Plenty of game up here. Pond that fills itself from 5 springs. So, water is not an issue.

I am looking into solar panel for well because I know my generator won't have fuel forever. But, I'd have to cut some big trees for solar panels.

Are you set up for having no electricity? I'm almost there but still a lot of work for me.

I have 10 square feet of land. I built a small "hatch" on the surface which leads to an underground complex I built totaling about 2 acres. Air intake, etc. I only pay property tax on the 10 square feet of "land" at the surface. Down below, I have enough supplies to last 50 years. In Pahrump.

Very small rural community up here. Few homes close to each other. It's damn hard to find anyone to work on odd jobs up here. Plus I'm on a set limited income. I budget to keep things on an even keel.

That's why I was playing with the idea of bartering a lg room on the 3rd floor in exchange for helping out with upkeep on property and home. I have a complete workshop in the garage. But I can't do everything by myself.

I have a 3/4 acre of flat land by my pond I tried to garden years ago. But the rabbits deer and bears thought I had put in a big buffet just for them I hardly even got any grapes I have going.

Ooooh..I can smell the pies baking from here.

I need to get a wood burning stove. I had my 100 gal propane tank replaced with a 500 gal one. They will only fill to 400 gals, leave room for expansion I guess. My whole home is heated by 2 black iron propane freestanding fireplaces. Just the one in the basement heats the main floor too. The other one in livingroom heats the whole house.

I'm keeping my eyes open for a wood burning stove. There are a lot of them up here. Venting will be an issue, but it can be done. Plenty of firewood on my property.

Your place sounds wonderful!

Just a little out of order to this post but...

I had searched "safe" places to live and the Ozarks seemed the place. However...

We made 5 different trips to buy land there and every trip we had extreme blow outs or breakdowns. Some trips it was more than one of each.

After the last one I decided God was trying to tell me to stay where I am. Or on the other hand the Devil wanted me to stay home?
