I would ALWAYS buy mom and pop - NEVER Amazon - if I didn't have to. I live out in the desert, nearly 180 miles from the nearest mom and pop, and when you're in a rush due to emergencies there's not too many options out here.

Had to get a harmonica in A real fast. Was asked just yesterday to do a gig come Thursday with one of my old bands. The harp is necessary for one of the signature tunes. I'd have to drive at least 200 miles round trip to even hope to find one in a store out here. Even then it would be iffy. I'll have to drive from the Arizona desert to LA (700 miles round trip???) for the gig, which would normally be insane, but it's a pretty decent paycheck. I haven't played on stage since 1995 and am really looking forward to it.

forgot to mention.... I COULD pick up a harp in LA, but I haven't played harp at all since 1995. I'm hoping it will arrive by noon. That will give me about 12 hours. NO WAY could I just pick one up and play it decently without practice.

That's actually not true.

Because for one. Not all Amazon packages use the post office.

And two. The post office gives a discount of $1.46 average per package. They are still making profit from those packages.

But. And this creeps me out a bit.

There is talk of privatizing the post office.
