This is a semi-annual, equinox occurrence where the satellite falls into Earth's shadow. Astro, someone said you explained the arc pattern on the solar flux chart (see below) as being due to SDO eclipse during equinox. I can't find the explanation on this thread or the one about the observatory shut down. If you could tell me which thread its on, I would appreciate it. TIA Quoting: Isis One  It's a bit different than the SDO eclipses, but similar. It's due to eclipses occurring for geostationary satellites around the time of the equinox. GOES 15 dropouts perfectly match the timing of those eclipses as it passes into earth's shadow once a day. My software can be used with the orbital elements for GOES 15 instead of SDO and it shows the eclipse occurring at that time due to earth: Thank you. So the eclipses explain the dropouts, but does that explain the arc? Yes.
