The Bizzare Pattern of Lame or Crippled Gods Throughout History and The Connection To Passover

I remember reading somewhere that the story of Jacob/Israel was a mythologization of the Canaanites evolving their worship from Baal or the Canaanite pantheon into Judaism. The explanation was something like the etymology of the word of Jacob was an epithet of Baal being lame or some particularity with the heel. This is why Jacob limps even after wrestling with God, it was a reincorporation of the limping attribute of Baal. Furthermore, the whole meaning of Passover was that it was a Canaanite ritual in which ancient priests of Baal/El would dance in a manner resembling “limping” or “hobbling” in reference to Baal’s lameness. This attribute of lameness got incorporated into Passover as YHWH limping over the doorways of the blood-marked doors of the Israelites, thereby making himself sacrificial like the limping of a newborn lamb. The root Hebrew word of Passover is pise'ach which means to be “crippled” or “lame” and the ritual of Passover was to remember that YHWH makes himself limp as a sacrifice for the Israelites.

Dionysus - etymologically means “limping Zeus” or “lame god” Nonnus
explains in his Dionysiaca, what the name Dionysus means "Zeus-limp".

“Hermes Maia’s son received him near the birthplace hill of Dracanona and holding him in the crook of his arm flew through the air. He gave the newborn Lyaios a surname to suit his birth, and called him Dionysos, or Zeus-limp, because Zeus while he carried his burden lifted his foot with a limp from the weight of his thigh, and nysos in the Syracusan language means limping. So he dubbed Zeus newly delivered Eiraphiotes, or Father Botcher, because he had sewed up his baby in his breeding thigh.”- Nonnos, Dionysiaca (305-306]

I think this mythologizing came later in attempt to explain the name. So Dionysus was called limping Zeus for whatever reason and this story arrived later.

Typhon - legs are serpents

K’awiil - Mayan God with one leg as a serpent (aka K God)

Zeus - There is a legend his legs were either joined or lamed and he wasn’t able to walk so he retreated into the wilderness until Hera healed him.

Geb - Geb (Seb) was generally known as the god of the earth to ancient Egyptians. Although his name translates to “ weak one” or “lame one”, Geb is considered one of the mighty kings of the Egyptian gods. Also he is depicted with his legs bound in the coil of a serpent.

The First Horus - was a child of only Isis and was considered to be a crippled deity and a patron to the crippled. In some accounts he is fathered by Seb.

Harpocrates - Plutarch says that Harpocrates (Har-pa-krat = Horus the child) was born “lame in his lower limbs”, having been delivered of Isis prematurely at about the time of the winter solstice.

Osiris - Plutarch accounts again, that there could be another veiled reference to Osiris in Spell 168 of The Book of The Dead, “what is written concerning the legs of Osiris”. Also described bound like Geb.

Vidar - the last emanation of Odin, Vidar is said to subdue the dread wolf Fenrir by placing his foot upon the beasts lower jaw. Vidar walks with a specially made boot.

Hephaestus - Dropped from Olympus by Hera, crippling him or he was dropped because he was deformed inherently.

Lucifer - classically depicted as lame on one foot as a result of his fall from heaven, highly likely this was developed from Hephaestus

Lord Krishna - Death by arrow wound to foot, In another story he was bitten on the left heel by a serpent, crushing its head. Yet Another variation being entirely coiled by a serpent a bitten on the left heel.

Achilles - Mortally vulnerable at foot, heel.

The Fisher King of Arthurian Legend - Lame, The Last Guardian of the Holy Grail, in some gnostic-occult circles Christ reincarnated or The Paraclete

Hermes, Mercury - Wings denoting holiness of the feet and paradoxically lameness.

Allah - “Then the Almighty will come to them in a shape other than the one which they saw the first time, and He will say, 'I am your Lord,' and they will say, 'You are not our Lord.' And none will speak: to Him then but the Prophets, and then it will be said to them, 'Do you know any sign by which you can recognize Him?' They will say. 'The Shin (leg),' and so Allah will then uncover His Shin (leg) whereupon every believer will prostrate before Him...”

YHWH - When you take the modern Hebraic letters from the Tetragrammaton and position them from top to bottom, it resembles a figure of a man who is weakened or disjointed on one side. Google “YHWH man figure” to view a representation of this.

Jesus Christ - 1. First prophecy about Jesus regards him being wounded by a serpent on his heel. 2. Discription in Revelation being all white accept the feet, which are described as darkened like brass.

Abraxas - Gnostic God of The Knights Templar, whose legs are serpents -

Lug (Irish God synonymous with Mercury & Odin) - Ritual regarding hoping around one leg with eye closed - “Death, War, and Sacrifice: Studies in Ideology & Practice” - Bruce Lincoln page 248 chapter 20.

Horatius Cocles, Weyland, Völundr (Varients of Hephaestus)

Also possibly Vidar from Norse Mythology.

It seems extremely bizzare that our ancestors would imagine their gods as lame or crippled. Does this raise anyone else’s curiosity?
