Seasonal Affective Disorder is Worse this Year than it has Ever Been
Seasonal affective has hit with a vengeance this year--don't recall it ever being this unbearable.

Would like to hear from others who suffer from this; how do you handle it? What do you do?

Keep telling myself it will be ok by first part of December (beginning of cold wintery weather) but is awful in the meantime.

Not even a cup of hot peppermint tea would make me feel better right now but I'm going to have one anyway.

For me the spring is worse. I get over-agitated and anxious as the ambient light starts to increase so quickly. The only thing that works for me is to stay busy. If I stop, I'll feel horrible and seriously dead inside.

The autumn and growing darkness, on the other hand, are easy for me. I'm a bit more sleepy in the morning, but otherwise I don't feel any different. "Hello darkness, my old friend".

I suffered from it when I lived in London for nearly 3 years. I realised a lot about myself during that time - mostly how important sunshine is to me and my well being.

I do recall having a session in a sunbed while in London. I am glad now I did not make it a habit because the evidence is coming through now that is really ups your chances of melanoma.

I think there are various heat lamps and coloured lights you can use which help.

I remember just running out and sunning myself whenever the sun came out. I still recall all those Londoners suddenly out in bikinis in the park at the first hint of spring.

Is it any wonder I finally settled in Sunny Queensland Australia. I can put up with the snakes, ticks, spiders, electrical storms and droughts because for 90 percent of the time the sun is shining! cool2

Try living in Canada where its snow and ice and wind from Dec to end of May!

eat more meat and potatoes and FAT! like your ancestors did and berries
 Quoting: Q33

It's great if you have snow. We had almost snow-free winters in 2002-2016. Just rain, cold, and dark from November to April. As I said, I tolerate darkness well, but enough is enough. The lack of snow makes everything so much darker.

Last winter was great, though. Snow fell early and there was a lot of it.

It does seem worse this year. it has been so rainy and dreary here in southcentral VA for the past week and now hurricane Florence is coming so no sun for at least another week. I was in bed at 9 last night and slept like a baby until 6 am. The energy is crazy around here with all the hurricane talk. Thank God for CBD!! Keeps me calm and centered.

Take some non-GMO vitamin D3. I take it year round.

In winter it's needed due to lack of sunlight.

In summer it helps prevent sunburn.
