Apparently, there has been some "unusual" activity on the sun lately. The article below suggests that they are watching the emission of gamma rays, but I wonder if they may be expecting a halo CME....

"Yesterday afternoon, this observatory high up in the mountains near where I live was evacuated by the FBI. The local sheriff's department was called in to assist them but the FBI would not tell them what it was they were looking for. The county sheriff said he saw black helicopters and other strange sights, which, coupled with the extreme secrecy and the proximity to an Air Force base, lends people to think that it might be...aliens? 👽 I drove up there today and it was quiet as a tomb. Still no word what is really going on, as practically the only thing officials will say is "No comment."

Astromut has a thread on the asteroid that is currently headed towards the sun.

They probably saw something in space and one of the observatory guys emailed someone about it and a keyword was flagged and thus brought out the feds.

Perhaps FEDS just did not want anyone looking through that scope. I wonder if any other facilities are on lockdown?
