Gotcha on the RADAR Gooderboy... I grew up in part on a farm 13 miles north of Goodland KS, and lived a couple of years on a farmstead 7 miles south of Goodland, have a good idea what it is like out there when the twisters are around. They are worse at 2:30AM in the middle of the night, you can't see squat.

Oh shit!!!... another one!!!!... I'm in Hill City, smack dab in the middle of Graham County.

---- and this I had just written too, lol... yikes!-----

Wew!... but man oh man was that ever scary. Tyler (black cocker pup, almost 12 weeks old) started yelping and then howling, and both my kitties were letting out these just really horrible kinda meowings... and of course they all came running to me and I'm probably the biggest chicken of us all, lol.... and hey, I was thinking, "Oh Fuck! Please, no, oh please!".

We really got some heavy duty hail, a whole lot of rain real fast, and the winds really kicked themselves to, well... to where you really do know that it's time to go inside, and ya know?. I tried to stay out on my front deck for to see if I could see anything... but I had Tyler in my arms and he was like totally freakin' out on me, and so we came back in. So then we looked at as much as we could see from inside my storm door.

I didn't really see much of anything though, and like any heavy duty kinda circular cloud rotations or anything... but... there was this one spot, and it was way way up there too. And what made it sorta stand out was that was a bit darker and more denser looking than the rest of the clouds all around it... but what was really weird was that from the bottom of it, it had what sorta looked like an almost invisible like trailer type threading thingie to it... hmmm???... and by that I mean, like think maybe of a fresh charcoal drawing with one little part of it a bit darker than the rest... and then you take your finger and very lightly trace a sorta curvey wavey line down through the rest of the drawing... and so that it looks like it's sorta there, but it's not there... and does that make any sense????

Anyways... that was weird, and really scary weird too. But to me it also looked like the storm was still building upon itself as it went overhead. So... and wow... and if it was/is... double wow too!... and cuz look out all you towns to the north and east of us.

And at the rate it's moving it looks like it ought to be reaching the Nebraska border within the next couple of hours too... and gooder luck up there as well.... and again, wew!

... and and and... thanks you guys!

Am just about due north of you, Gooderboy, in Lexington, Nebraska.

I have been through many a near miss in my 53 years, have seen plenty of funnels, mostly F0's to F3's... except the June 3rd 1980 GI, NE. F5 was 10 miles south of there when it hit in 1980, was more or less followed back to Lincoln that night down I-80, was about 20 miles ahead of them the whole time.

It is so cool here, 55 degrees outside, not used to seeing severe t-storms and tornado warnings when it is so cool all day. Oh, boy it just got really weird looking out the window, going outside, NOAA is only about 8 minutes behind here, but lots can happen in 8 minutes.

Re: Tornado
I'm sorry you guys, but I thought this thread had sorta gone on its way, lol... and then, thanks... and really too.

There were two storms that night, the first one being the one with the confirmed tornado... and it was like 8 miles away and headin' straight for us from the west. It went back up and over us though... and wew! The second storm brought with it some really high winds, which took out our phones and power for a gooder 4 hours or so... and it also dropped almost 2 inches of rain in just under a half an hour. So... I ended up going to bed a bit early that night, and doing some reading by candlelight, lol. And I do apologise for not getting back sooner... and and and, thanks to you too Msr Phoenix.

They were showing some videos of one of those two twisters on the Weather Channel yesterday, made me think of you, Gooderboy, and how you and yours fared. Good to see you made it through okay.
