Colyer accepted defeat in a surprise announcement after a review of some provisional ballots from most Kansas counties failed to find enough votes for him to overcome a deficit of 110 votes at the time of poll closing in the Aug. 7 primary, out of more than 311,000 votes initially counted. Also, Johnson County is only 1 out of 105 counties in the State. When you posted about Johnson County, the official numbers for Johnson County weren't even in due to problems they had with their computers. Johnson County numbers were the last numbers to come in at 8:00 a.m. the following day. Your thread was posted well before that time (3:54 a.m. Eastern Standard time, 2:54 a.m. Central Standard time here in Kansas).

Are you forgetting Kathleen Sebelius? As much as I want Kobach to be our governor, we can't take this threat of a democratic governor lightly!

Also, to go with my earlier post about Kathleen Sebelius, Kansas has had 11 democratic governors in it's history. Sebelius and then her lieutenant governor, Parkinson, were the term just prior to Brownback/Colyer from 2003-2011, so it's not all ancient history for democratic governors in our state.

Actually, I've been studying that list of governors. It appears that every other governor has been a Democrat since 1967, thus supporting the political expert's opinion that I cited earlier that she very well could win. We need every person to get out and vote this year to ensure this doesn't happen and to break the cycle of Republican, Democrat, Republican, Democrat!

As one who shares our fine city, I disagree. Demo candidate Laura Kelly comes off as clueless, playing with an empty deck at an equally-empty poker table. She's VERY same-old-same-old.

As for Greg Ormand? A sincere wanna-be who never-will.... at least until he kisses the right asses of the right people, and they don't like him because he always forgets the lip-gloss!

The other also-rans are just distractions because every circus needs a clown or two, floppy shoes and all.

I will agree that the strident irrationality of local Dems has been ramped up in the past 6 months -and even more so since Quasi-Commie Bernie Sanders and his Viper-in-Waiting Ocasio Cortez rolled into town with their tambourines- but their constituency is still fractured and the clock's ticking on having that particular Jello-mold ready for a Labor Day picnic.

Personally, I just don't see November 8 being much of a squeaker... especially if President Trump happens to drop by our state before then... and he might do just that on very SHORT notice! He did it once before for the Kansas caucus [I was lucky enough to sit 30' away from him that morning] when Wichita only had 24hrs to get ready before his plane touched down... a move that seriously rattled Ted Cruz - and I know, because I spent 1/2-day surrounded by his minions on all sides as I waited to cast my own vote!

It's been a LONG time since a sitting President has taken such an interest in Kansas politics and with the success of homeboy Mike Pompeo you'd better know that the Oval office is keeping a very close eye on Topeka! All Kansans should be very grateful for that.

And, lest you've forgotten: BOTH Kathleen Sebelius and the earlier Joan Finney were among the most hated Governors our state has had in recent history - they were both so politically thin-skinned that they could barely keep their shit together. I still remember how rattled Finney was when -in a receiving line- I refused to shake her hand. Her eyes narrowed and face colored, revealing just how bugged she was by such a simple little slap in the face! And understand too that there are MANY Kansans who still remember who crafted ObamaCare... it was Kathleen Sebelius!

BTW: quoting KAKE-TV is similar to saying CNN preaches the Gospel. All THREE national affiliates: KWCH, KSN and KAKE are cut from the exact same cloth and it's as cheap and shabby as Burlap; they all merely parrot what their NYC headquarters dictates they say and THAT'S why you should really TrustNoOne[in]KS - particularly our news outlets!
