My cat ate a huge piece of yarn from a bedspread once. Caused a blockage and had to have it removed. Some cats eat weird things.

Try switching the food as well, my cat has developed sensitivity to some brands of food over time, no idea why. Right now I can pretty much only give him one specific type of dry food because he starts puking whenever I try giving him something different.

Papa God, we come to You now and ask that you heal MostlySunshine's cat. Heal the cat physically through and through in the Name of Jesus. Also heal the cat's emotions and mind. Bring the cat comfort and peace, in the Name of Christ Jesus we pray, Amen! And Thank You Papa God for MostlySunshine's cat, and the joy it brings. We praise You Papa God!

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
Does kitty have long hair?

Did the vet mention it might be a hairball?

When a kitty (short or long-haired) is eating just fine, then loses interest, it often can just be a hairball upsetting the tummy.

What we do with our cats is put a little bit of vaseline on their paw once a week. They lick their paw and the vaseline slides any hairball right out.

This is a good idea! I thought short hairs would shed less than long hairs, turns out they shed more :)

Mine occasionally pukes up a hairball - really, I should call it a hair LOG because it looks exactly like a little sausage link made up of tightly interwoven hairs, it's pretty gross :) But we love our kits anyway.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
Try giving him a little bit of olive oil in his food.

Some Vets have payment plans and will work with you on making payments, he does not seem to be that ill to be put down..

Their is a way..just work with your vet and look on google for tummy remedies for cat ailments

All the best to you and Kitty!

 Quoting: christian

I was going to suggest olive oil. Instead of in the food, put it in an eyedropper and squirt it down the cat's throat. She should also plant some kitty grass. It comes up in a few days, and is great for their digestion and their hearts.

But with a kitty that age, kidney issues should always be considered, especially with a male. If feeding dry food, stop it right now. It can cause urinary tract crystals that can block the pee, and they will throw up.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
I just wanted to thank everyone for commenting and im writing down everything to ask my vet.

My kitty is indoor and goes onto my balcony every so often(that's how it got the coneflower).

I also don't want to put my kitty down but i'm already almost at the to much $ amount. My husband being sick and off work for three weeks and having continuous health problems has me weighing my options. I honestly can't spend much more.

hf Thanks again everyone and if I didn't respond personally sorry. I will give everyone an update tomorrow.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
I’m so sorry; we lost our cat just this week in similar circumstancces. Stopped eating, lethargic, rapid weight loss. Took him to the vet and assumed I’d find out he had a hair ball or diabetes or something treatable.

Ended up being cancer and we had to put him down. I loved that damn cat. He was also 11 years old.

So I am hoping and praying your cat has something easily treatable and can be with you a long time. And the financial stuff is hard; we spent quite a bit for the diagnosis and then had to lose him anyway.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
I'd give it time. If he is still eating, pooping, peeing and normal weight (no quick extreme weight loss) I'd wait.

Sometimes my ginger cat will "sit on a hairball" for days refusing to puke it up. He acts miserable, pecks at his food, pukes his food, pecks some more etc.

Felines are great at masking illness and can even skew their own blood work.

I'd try the olive oil, Vaseline, or butter on the paws route to assist with a hairball first.

What's he puking? Food or yellow stomach acid/bile?

Don't give up on him, wait a while and it may work itself out. I once had a cat who ingested some fiberglass insulation we believe and he was puking miserable for more than a week before he was better.

Also l-lysine is good ground up in wet food for cats.

I'm thinking about putting it on my credit card but honestly i'm in a bad financial crisis and with my husband being sick I don't think it would be a good idea at all.

Yesterday he puked the yellow stomach acid/today was the food. Sometimes when he pukes the food looks undigested other times not.

This will only treat his nausea, not the underlying cause of course. But, blow some pot smoke in the cats face. It will help with his appetite & help him keep the food down a bit better. Years ago, my aunt & uncle would buy weed when their cats were sick. In the event it didn't help they would then take them to the doc.

What does his breath smell like? Ammonia? Also look in his mouth for ulcers. Both of these signs would be kidney issues.

Sounds like maybe an intestinal issue. You can add probiotics to food and that will help in conjunction with slippery elm bark or pepcid ac.
