143 MPH Fire Tornado Ripped Through Redding, Ca #CarrFire
On Thursday, NWS researcher combed through the wreckage left behind and determined a fire whirl — commonly known as a fire tornado — roared through the area between 7:30 p.m and 8 p.m. on July 26th.

It was packing 143 mph winds, turning heavy-duty high tension power line towers into twisted pieces of metal, uprooting trees and ripping the bark off other trees.

It was on a street and neighborhood where I know 3 people.
It killed a firefighter....6 civilians ( I believe) died elsewhere as well.
2 of the 3 houses are ash, with over 50 more in that subdivision..
Such a scary and weird fire.
The pictures of my city on fire near downtown and surrounding areas are unbelievable, walls of fire as high as you can see.
The first night the news station just kept saying, get out of Redding, it was everywhere, too many areas to report on or inform us about, it was going near the hospital, evacuated the news station, no one knew where was safe, as it was changing, growing, burning all over.
It was 4 intense days of no safety, being fearful, not knowing if we should stay or go. 3% containment for those awful days.
It’s burning away from town now, in the forested areas, Lewiston is on high alert, very heavy smoke lingers on, unsafe air.
Most evacuations locally have been lifted.
Several other people in other areas I know have lost everything as well.
It feels like a nightmare,.
Looters are on the hunt, and have robbed a lot of homes.
Criminal drug addicts have infiltrated evacuation centers and took all the freebies they could, some stole wallets from victims.
Some people at hotels and friends houses, had their car windows smashed and all their important and valuable items stolen from them.
700 pets in an emergency shelter and hundreds being treated elsewhere for burns. Around 1000 burned homes. We had a housing crisi before this even started - poplulation near 100k
This town has come together like nothing I’ve ever imagined.
Angels and generosity running on overtime.
Truly an outpouring of food, services, donations and money for the affected.
Never had a clue what a disaster felt like to be in, it’s surreal, but the kindness is contagious and we are going to get through this.
I have been emotional every day, hearing the stories and then seeing the beauty of people coming through for them.
Look up Parvin Carter on Facebook, read her story, she’s a well known local dentist in town. It’s the most chilling account of one family’s narrow escape.
Count your blessings, be grateful, and if fire strikes your area, be prepared.
Load your trunk full, get those animal carriers ready. Fires are unpredictable, ours jumped the river, came into many areas they didn’t think it would, hundreds of spot fires since, and continuing...

Best of luck on the rebuilding. Yes, it is amazing how disaster can bring a community together and it's a beautiful thing to be in. It's like everyone is family, we all share and we'll get through this. Those who stole belongings from cars should burn in the next fire. That is soooooo low...

Guys my little brother is out on the fire line in Nevada right now. He was in Wyoming last week. And he may be headed to California in a week or so.

Pray for him. I got the kid into this fuckin' mess. If I knew he'd see me working and think it was the "greatest job" on the planet, I'd have never put on the uniform.

Oh, and by the way, Gavin McIness, if you or Rogan are visiting this board, I want to fight either or both of you in a cage one at a time or at the same time. McInes I want a piece of your punk ass because you talked shit about firefighters being a "worthless" job and I want a piece or Rogaine's punk ass because he brings you're soft, pasty ass on his podcast and acts like you're the voice of fucking Zeus.

Set it up, Eddie. We'll see if that Tenth Planet Black Belt saves his Irish, Dwarf Ass from a good ole Lion's Den ass beating.

Firefighting and EMS, next to motherhood and nursing, are a couple of the tough jobs on the planet. If you think getting a 401K and healthcare after twenty years of scraping up dead kids and putting out infernos is useless, bring it on goatee boy!

By the way, my "retirement" was simply my matched contributions to 14%, which isn't bad. I've broken two vertebrae in my back, got arthritis in my lower back, and I started a third career at 43-years-old because there is no sense in laying on my ass for the next thirty years waiting to die. That said, begrudging my fellow firefighters and medics an earned retirement is just a bunch of Ayn Rand faux capitalist bullshit. Read some fucking Adam Smith, morans.
