There was the admission of the boyfriend that 'nobody locked their doors' in Brooklyn, IA, and that he probably didn't either.

This angle of the story is all too believable.

As a twice-convicted stalker, perhaps Wayne Cheney had learned from his past mistakes, and took extra surveilance. Perhaps noticed that the doors were not all locked.

That's the kind of thing you'd think an experienced stalker would notice, third time around. Unless he stalked before, and just was never caught. So who knows, really.

Rough timeline: The (non) suspect Wayne Cheney could theoretically have had plenty of time to cleanse his home of the types of evidence that might lead to a third guilty plea.

Plenty of time (four, eight, twelve?) hours to make sure he didn't take his phone (check), and throw away any clothing used (check), etc. etc.

So his voluntary consent to the search and (not)interrogation could still be consistent with a crime and a covering up.

Regardless.

For now I think most of us would be happy just to find this girl alive.

I’m headed to work right now, so I will add more to this later. However something stinks. I just was watching the press conference with the parents.
Not only did neither of them not show any emotion whatsoever, which is possible if they are in shock, still strange, but they were way too structured, and lacking any empathy whatsoever on camera. They also kept praising the media , Making sure people knew they thought the media was incredible.
Does anybody else find that strange? I will get back on here for the discussion in about an hour, just want to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!
Ps, I would be inconsolable if my child were missing. And again, people react differently to stressful situations but this just seems odd to me.

Maybe that is why every contact with the media seems to say "give us info but immediately step aside and let the authorities do their jobs, "let law enforcement handle this, they are trained for this" (as the boyfriend said on numerous occasions) - really strange

MissCleo

First of all, thank you for your interest in this case. And I agree with you, "hope she's alive and returned."

Hypothesis:
This 'hog farmer' convicted stalker Wayne Cheney, well, let's say he had to drive somewhere and buy some hog feed. Maybe he bought some coffee, or had some lunch too.

Brooklyn Iowa, where Mollie was last seen, is located just off U.S. Highway 6 and a few miles north of Interstate 80.

Maybe he just needed gasoline. Point is: perhaps he saw Mollie. Just one look. A glimpse that set his convicted-stalker soul aflame. Perhaps that old thrill just never went away.

Now, being a twice-convicted stalker, he probably knows the Do's and Dont's stalking his prey. Maybe after he caught one fleeting glimpse of Mollie Tibbits, his plans for the day....well, changed.

Maybe he spent time to follow her jog; watch her habits; follow her to the home she was house-sitting. And then went in through the admittedly probably unlocked house.

^^^ Just a hypothesis. Certainly seems possible, to me, though.

Re: RE: the missing Iowa girl.....
I read an article this morning that she might have been spotted at a truck stop...appeared drugged. No confirmed reports...only "maybe it was her."

I didn't see the news conference, but those parents have to keep their cool since they're hoping she's still alive. She's been gone for three weeks.

As you know, she was staying with the boyfriend's dogs while he was 100 miles away. She lived there along with him and two other young people who were also 100 miles away that day. He said that no one locks their doors in Brooklyn, Iowa, (population 1700), so she probably did not have the doors locked. Yikes!

I sometimes had my doors unlocked during the day since I live in a "safe" community until one day, about 20 years ago, I had the front door locked. Someone rang the doorbell. I didn't answer it. Then the person tried to open the door...I could hear the door handle go back and forth. I froze! From then on, my doors are locked 24 hours a day!
 Quoting: nutmeg

I didn’t realize that info. Thanks nutmeg!
 Quoting: Esoterica

I just read there will be a news conference with updates tomorrow morning at 9:30am. They are back searching that pig farm...ditches near it. I think that's where they had dogs last week. Updated news says someone found a red shirt nearby, but they did not report anything more....whether or not they suspected it was Mollie's.

The farmer there said he gave permission for authorities to search his house, computer and property without a search warrant. He said he had nothing to hide.

After I posted the above, I see this thread was just posted. Very interesting video at link!
