General Mills Cereal Shortage

Where are the damn Wheaties? Is General Mills holding back because too many Caitlyn Jenner's were being created?


Fans of the venerable General Mills Inc. brand are seeing shortages of Wheaties cereals around the country, and other cereals seem to be affected, too.

Philly Voice has a report on the missing cereal, talking with people who have spent weeks hunting for Wheaties in multiple store chains, including Target, Walmart and CVS. Its story is mostly about Philadelphia, but a quick look at Wheaties' Facebook page shows the problem is popping up all over.

Supply of Wheaties is pinched even in Minneapolis/St. Paul, just miles from General Mills' Golden Valley headquarters. Minnesota Public Radio has a report featuring signs at a Lunds & Byerlys store of an empty shelf with a note explaining that General Mills (NYSE: GIS) is "experiencing nationwide production issues on select cereal varieties."
