Re: What happened to Ronnie Van Zant
My favorite Skynyrd song.

Funny thing: Music is always playing at work so Skynyrd is never too far removed from the room. The boss will come to my desk or somebody wants to have a convo around my desk when Skynyrd is playing.

I cut them off and say, "It's Skynyrd man!" and then they're quiet until the song ends.

The hoot of it all is the guy sitting by me from NJ laughs his ass off when I play that card.

Probably an assassination for one thing, or another. All in all, I believe someone with higher connections in the business called for their departure, both figurative, and literal. Just a week before playing in New York Cities' Madison Square Garden, an action that would've been viewed as the bands official milestone at making it in the rock world's hall of fame. They were too good, they were too righteous, their success would've heralded a benchmark for many American's to view as a shining example to the success of the American family. They didn't sell out to like whores of babylon to a satanic music industry that openly calls for the sacrifice of American principles. Therefore, they were sacrificed, executed, pulled off of the world stage. Just because of their notoriety, and the audience that could be reached through their songs, as well as interviews that many viewers would've tuned to, listened, and believed in. No, the mainstream music industry needed, and still needs southern apostates, who willingly go against the roots and foundation that this country was raised. That, and it could've been because Ronnie married an ex of one of the Almond Brothers. Or the fact that a couple of country bumpkins from jacksonville were going to make it to stardom without selling their souls to the devil of hollywood.

They said it ran out of fuel... But you're right, it very well could've been drug related, considering the drugs that were being run by top politicians during that time, and after, up until today.

It was a combination of drugged pilots, shoddy maintanence, the failure to check the fuel levels before take off and the bad luck of coming down 100 yards into the forest when they almost glided to the clear pasture, hitting very old thick trees

Saw their next-to-last show, 3 days before, here in Knoxville, less than 50 feet from center stage.
Still have the shirt, Steve Gaines gave them the boost they needed. Like Stevie Ray, died too soon.
