Who is "the comforter"?

My dad was very interested in the role and person of the Comforter later in his life.
He learned that the Comforter is the Holy Spirit of God,
third person of the Trinity and as much 'God' as Jesus or the Father.
When the Holy Spirit indwells the man, it puts God back into the man .. as he was originally created. (Adam and Eve)
The fact of the indwelling Spirit of God also demonstrates that Christ's sacrifice on the Cross was accepted by the Father for the forgiveness of our sins.
God won't dwell in a body full of sin.
The Holy Spirit is not a 'mediary' between God and man ...
He is God.
