Both have different beliefs and behaviour, go to different churches, etc. I consider myself a Christian and I haven't even read the Bible or been to a single church sermon. The Cathodox church is literally the mother church os Christianity, and Protestantism comes from reformed Catholicism. Is makes you a lazy, bad and/or nominal Christian. Utter nonsense. It’s a mother all right, but not the mother church. The head of the church is Jesus Christ. Any church built in any other foundation is in error. The Catholic Church, ans its orthodox offshoot are idolatrous and babylonian in their traditions and ways. Protestantism reform came from a desire to return to the true teaching of scripture. Unfortunately, the reformers never went far enough, holding on to errros such as infant baptism.
