No, it's not bad luck, except for the baby bird. Any luck catching it?

Re: Got a baby wren in my house.
I was trying to throw a towel over him, but he is just too fast. Ive got windows open with the screens out to see if he'll fly out, too.

Yes, I know to be gentle with him. I do appreciate the advice for that, though. Some would just crush them.

The cactus wren is the state bird of Az. Put some cactus nectar in a hummingbird feeder outside and leave the door open.

Re: Got a baby wren in my house.
I found a baby that had fallen out of a nest and took it home.

I feed it crushed and wetted chick starter feed and occasional wetted bread.

In about two or three weeks it grew enough feathers to fly away.

After staying up til 630am (rugby) I woke up at 1pm with a wren nesting in my hair. It keeps popping in and out a slightly cracked window. I think it's great.

If it has mites with it you might as well torch the whole house.

Eyeball where it is and then block out the light coming in from the windows. Or, if it's night-time, turn the lights off. When it's dark, the birds will stay calm and are less likely to fly away when you approach them. You can use a red filter over a flash-light beam to shine a light directly on it, or just remember where it is once the lights are off and pick it up in the dark.

Re: Got a baby wren in my house.
It's been in and out all day (turning into early evening here now) so be it. I have no issues cohabitating with a wren really. I think I'll just leave the cat outdoors.

Maybe the baby wren simply got lost and is hungry.
As far as superstition I read on Reference .com that it is a sign that the inhabitants of the home will shortly receive an important message. If the bird is white or dies while in the home, it is said to be a sign of impending death.
