So I guess all the previous studies finding that mushrooms, including Portobello, fight cancer are now incorrect?
Who is this guy?

Yes, in fact most of his talk was about the benefits of mushrooms - the actual podcast was over two hours long. The conversation only gets weird when the topic of Portabello's is brought up. Paul does state that if cooked properly it should be OK - but why would his life be in danger!? Thanks for that answer. I wonder how you improperly cook it? By letting it burn or overcook, does that change the chemistry? Strange that he is being so mysterious.... and not very helpful, good intentions or not.
