Remington 870 just came out with a modification to add detachable box magazines to their 870 pump action shotgun. The joke was that even Remington can make a pump action unreliable, because of the box magazine. So if there were 16 gun shots, that would mean the shooter would have to reload completely if it held a full 8 rounds. Reloading a shotgun is very slow and fumbly, if you're not a 3 gun competitor and have a lot of practice. Sure Keith Garcia, Jerry Miculek and other phenom competitive shooters can reload and shoot very fast. But a high school student to be able to reload under stress would be very difficult and slow.
