if you have a septic system,leech field etc check on your codes for the minimum distance your water well should be from the septic- as a part of choosing the location.

some of us depend on our water wells for OUR WATER
and some do experience the well going dry and will need another site and drilling etc which is not cheap,pay by the foot etc.
unless the well goes dry , no one can interfere w/our water.

Guess this would be much more difficult, if not impossible with rocky terrain, unless that ends at some point underground, since we live in the mountains. Looks totally doable and a lot better than a few other vids I watched on diy well-drilling. I'm sure the company could give us advice there, but wow, this is very promising.

Very interesting. It doesn't look that simple when he gets down to the deeper drilling and has to use his entire body to turn the auger. I guess I feel that I wouldn't be able to do this myself, since I am female and don't have the upper body strength that this guy in the video has. A person could push 100' in a couple days. I used a 2" trash pump and a pit dug out to re use the water..used bentonite to stiffin up the bore hole..

There are other ways possible, including using your own city water hose to jet out the well...using the water pressure to do the hard work. it's really all going to depend on your terrain. Sand and clay, no problem. rocks, problem. Youtube has lots of videos on doing your own well.

Can get deeper in harder ground with a driven well.

Don't try this without checking your local geological maps to see what depth the bedrock is or you may be in for a sad surprise after busting your ass. All rock and no water. True for where I live I know, you can't dig down more than 10-15 feet before you hit granite.

I've watched this so many times, it's fascinating to watch master craftsmen at work.

I loved that video, watched the whole thing. Fascinating. Love too that they are looking for partners to get the product to third world regions.

For anyone considering this, there are a host of 'tell tale' signs/plants/trees that give away water locations; black cottonwood is one such tree. They need a lot of water, and water is always close.

The method used in the video is good, but so is a sandpoint driven well; it's tip you buy, then keep adding sections of pipe, while hammering into the ground; it works 'ok' even in rock.

We commonly use a backhoe, dig about 20' deep pit, about the size of a small car, put about 6" of drain rock on the bottom, then vertically drop in a road culvert in the middle of the hole, up to grade. fill the rest of the open cavity with gravel.

Not only do you have a shallow well, but the drain rock also acts as a sistern; depending on soil, you may want to add drain fabric before the gravel. From there, just look up northerntool, and they can hook you up with all shallow well accessories.

Last but not least, if you live in an area, and don't have great water, what to do??? Shoot, like the technique in the video, there are many techniques that don't require a lot of resources. Go scout out an area that looks promising, if it's out of view of other people, dig your well. If Teotwawki comes, you at least have, and know a source of water.

Not sure how clean that water is at 25 feet, but yeah, in an emergency scenario, it could be beneficial.

Life straw, yes, its that simple. You can buy 17 for 150 bucks. That's years of clean drinking water, stop with your bullshit. You can drink water with shit in it, any freshwater source is just fine.

Drilling through sandstone, getting to the water bearing layer should be interesting with that post hole digger.
