Trump's Appointment of John Bolton A Betrayal of Trump's Base
I used to be a fairly ardent supporter of Trump. But now that he's appointed John Bolton as his national security advisor, I'm wondering what is going on.

Trump made it clear while campaigning that he opposed the 2003 Iraq invasion and that he wanted to stop the empire building of the USA. No more continuous invading of other countries in the name of an ill defined War on Terror.

John Bolton not only supported and still supports the 2003 Iraq invasion, but he is known to be one of the most ardent pro-war, pro-invasion, pro-empire building people in DC.

Why has Trump done an about face by appointing such a war monger when he campaigned on ending all these mindless wars????

I agree the bill he signed recently is pretty bad, but it seems everyone is so focused on that, they've missed this thing about the Bolton appointment. If John Bolton is able to shape foreign policy and persuade Trump on these issues, that seems to be a far more dangerous development.

Maybe I missed this topic being discussed here before, but I wanted to throw this out here.

Does anyone think Trump's appointment of Bolton is not only a betrayal of what Trump campaigned on but also a warning that WW3 got that much closer?

I would think they would perceive this as Trump telling them to watch out, war is on the way. Not exactly the type of signal he told his supporters he would give when he campaigned to be President.

John Bolton is an insane moron. He genuinely believes every bit of propaganda from the CIA. He somehow thinks that Saddam was our enemy and that Iraq is much better off because of the war. The man is a certifiable lunatic.

Hopefully, he wont have much influence with Trump. I think Trump is mostly appointing people based on how much he trusts them not to stab him in the back, more so than any advice they might offer. Bolton is just filling an empty seat.

Nope. Bolton is cleaning out Obama holdovers & leakers. He’s anti UN.

The US govt has became pussified. A joke. No walls. No National Security due to leaks & selling secrets.

I’m not ‘crazy’ about him but he’s a good choice for present situation. They’re aware he’s a war hawk & have an eye on him. He’s just an Advisor & won’t start ww3. We’ve got bigger issues right now-like domestic liberal terrorism for example.

S_o_r_c_h_a just had a video of Bolton recommending the Russians adopt a right to bear arms in their country, speaking to the Russian people. Everything he said was 100% right and from the heart.

He's a good man who was probably following bad orders under W. Watch that video and you'll really like him.

Trump had issues with leakers and people not doing what they were told...throwing in Bolton in this circle dont make sense at all...unless a war with Iran is on the horizon and thats what Bolton stands for.

He doesn't make these choices. An evil being in a Castle somehwere is making these choices. He has a gun to his head, and his childrens heads.

On the first day of office they fly them into Denver and to the underground bases there, and that's what's known publicly. What do you think the are made privy to at that stage, a secret beer brewery? No, it's about all the things we can't openly discuss here that's what.

if you are unprepared for battle (see: spending bill)
you want the enemy to believe you are not only prepared..

Give Bolton a gun and drop him Trump and all the Neo cons into iran if they rely believe it's worth billions it's surely worth them and their childrens lives

A million dollars is a lifetime of slavery for average person.

700 billion is the life of toil of 700,0000 slaves. Trump just sold the life slavery of 700,000 people. Getting killed in a war isn't nearly as toilsome as 50 years at $12 an hour to make a million dollars.

We don't need oil 700 billion is enough to buy free gas for everyone for a thousand years.
