Rick and Morty or American Dad?

People always talk about Rick and Morty having really smart humor, but I feel like American Dad takes the cake in that category.

While Rick and Morty has more intelligent and creative plots, a lot of the dialogue and its general shtick is quite lazy. They take an interesting and unique story-line that really shows the creators' intelligence, but then they just throw a funny alcoholic in every scene to keep it going. It works- it's a great show.

Conversely, American dad has much more intelligent dialogue, and less thought-provoking plots. They have much more "I see what you did there" and break-the-4th wall moments that dumb people probably missed. American Dad does their homework with each and every scene, and their higher financial budget is quite apparent, given the talent of their writing staff. Due to the larger volume of episodes, the story-lines aren't anywhere near as interesting as Rick and Morty.

Have Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon pitch storyline ideas to the American Dad staff for Seth MacFarlane to voice- that's the ultimate show. Overall, I say American Dad is a way better show.
