In Japan I've heard people typically work 60+ hours/week, with no overtime pay.

I am an IT guy they won't give me work in Holland cause my personality does not fit with dutch mainstream (company culture), i am a foreigner hence i have different personality.

On a similar note, European countries' workers all get at least 4 weeks of paid vacation time per year. Not here in the good ol' USA where at a lot of companies you have to work one full year before you even get ONE week of vacation. Countries in Europe also get more paid holidays off as well.

A 112 hour work week is quite easy every few weeks if one loves what they're doing.

gas is also 7$ a gallon in europe, so you can spend all that hard earned time off at home.

You forgot to add commute time to and from work, so you can probably subtract another five hours from your 72 hours of free time. It's all by design of course.

You can't get all your cooking cleaning and net browsing done in the 10 hours a day you have left over? shut your internet off. I bet you'll suddenly have much more time to go have a life.

I don't care how great one's job is, 16 hours a day would get old real fast, even if it's only one week a month. You would have to have the epitome of a dream job, a job that fulfills one's deepest passions, yet allows one to take care of personal things while on the clock. Probably less than 1% of the population has a job like that.
