Before I delete these smilies...
My dog Simo passed away from kidney failure recently. He was 14. Over the years, I posted his photos here on GLP and talked of him several times. But, I guess I won't need these photos any longer.

I got him when he was 4 as a rescue. He had been on a chain out in a backyard with a full privacy fence and was by far the meanest dog I had ever met in my life. But, after some time, we got him calmed down and he learned to trust, at least a little bit. After my wife passed away, he was always good "insurance" if I had to leave my daughter home alone for a short time. Also, one time, when we were away for a few hours, he did stop two kids from entering out house (the neighbors filled me in on the story when we got back).

Anyway, he was a good dog and a good friend.

See ya' on the other side bud...

lol, I can't quite force myself to delete them just yet anyway.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'm fine, my daughter is fine. It's all a part of life and life is what you make of it. One last quick story...never once in his life (that we had him) did he ever wag his tail. After he got sick, one of my daughter's friends came over for a couple of days. When she was little, she stayed with us for a few weeks when her Mom had to go overseas for work. Simo didn't like many, but he always tolerated this girl being in our house. Anyway, when he saw her this last time, I was shocked to see his tail wag for the first time ever lol.

He was a good friend and he earned his place in our hearts and memories :)

Re: Before I delete these smilies...
Sorry for your loss OP. We lost our yellow about the same age as yours a couple years ago and she was also a rescue, 1-1/2 year old when we adopted her. I am a huge advocate of adopting especially dogs.

The reason I picked her was at the time our two kids we're about 5 and 8, we didn't want a pup to train and she was already housebroken.

We also didn't want a dog that was overly aggressive or showed signs of abuse, when we got to her kennel she was the only calm dog in the building just sitting there pretty as could be waiting for us.

I feel your pain. We lost our pit, Tiny, a few years back.

She was a sweetheart.

es, do keep them, and back them up on a CD or thumb drive. I wish I had taken more photos of my 2 special kitties.

He looks to have been such a good dog. He deserves to be kept in happy photos.
