Amazing story... and journey, you've been on. Thanks for sharing it here, reminds me of times when we used to share memories and 'happenings' with our parents and G Parents which kept bonds in famlies.

"Tiger", your name and avatar, can I ask, was this a whim, a picture you liked, or is there some other reason? Can't help getting the feeling it's something special for/to you. No worries if you don't want to say :)

Again, thanks, may the wind be always at your back ;)

Tiger was a nickname I had since I was a small child. I was a little terror.I may be older now, and do not have the youth and strength I had before, but I am more refined in my techniques, so the Tiger label stays. :)

Well, Tiger, you made me cry! But it's ok, because that is an awesome testimony, and a truly wonderful picture of the blessing your daughter is! God does some pretty amazing things - we just have to accept His grace and goodness in total faith. He really DOES take care of us!

Blessings to you and your family!

That's good that you didn't have an abortion, and that your daughter ended up okay and you also.

However, she did not go to heaven for a few days. That is ridiculous. No where in the Bible does it say that people go to heaven for a few days. Either they are to be resurrected to heaven or to the earth in the future like the Bible foretells... but either case is not temporary, it is permanent.

And the big clue here that your daughter (or maybe it's you) that is making it up, is that you claimed that Jesus came to serve her food? Uh reallY? Spirit creatures (Angels) do not eat food. Only physical bodies eat food because it sustains them.

My daughter was born extremely healthy, with a full head of platinum blonde hair. I am fortunate that there were no complications with her.I had spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit with my granddaughter 6 years ago. She almost didn't make it, but she is OK now. It is a terrifying and helpless feeling to see your child or grandchild in that position. May God Bless your daughter for what she does for these precious babies !!!

There is a section of the neonatal care unit that some people do not know about, but most neonatal units have.It is where they put the babies who are born with serious medical problems, deformities, and other serious issues. They are kept in a room that is part of the neonatal unit, but separated at least partially by either a curtain, or a wall.
When I got a call many years ago about a baby who was going to go into a nursing home because of medical problems that no foster home was equipped to handle, I said yes, sight unseen.I was an EMT, and I had hands on training on dealing with the medical issues this baby was facing. I went into that unit to see my new daughter, the daughter of my heart. Even though she had problems, it was nothing compared to what the other babies and their families were going to have to deal with.

I am grateful her mother gave her life, and gave her a chance.

Re: My Daughter's Story
When I was pregnant with my youngest, I was very sick. Even some of my pro-life friends told me that if I had an abortion, it would be OK, as my life was in danger. What kind of mother would I be, to sacrifice my child for myself?
This is a long read, and I apologize in advance, but this must be told again. My daughter's story was in a 2 local newspapers years ago.

Today is my youngest daughter's birthday. She is 23 today, and I was in my early 40's when she was born.I had a horrible pregnancy, sick all the time, a lot of complications. I had major abdominal surgery when I was pregnant with her. The doctor thought she was in the tube instead of the womb, when I was about 3 months pregnant. When they tried to do a laprascope, they discovered my abdomen was so full of scar tissue from previous surgeries that there was no way my womb could expand any more and the scope could not take care of it.So, I was sliced open from my belly button down to the bottom for them to remove the scar tissue. As for my daughter, they could not find her. She wasn't in the womb, and she wasn't in the tube, but the tests showed I was pregnant. This was on a Friday. They did repeat ultrasounds all weekend, and still couldn't find her. Monday morning, when they did another ultrasound, they found her, just where she was supposed to be, happily scooting around my womb.
Where was she those 3 days? I will go into that at the end of my post.
Fast forward to February 16, 1995. The incision from the massive surgery I had to remove the scar tissue, never healed up right. There was not one good day all through the entire pregnancy. The OB told me that if I could make it to at least December 12th, which is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, that she would live.I carried her full term, to everyone's surprise, including the OB.
I woke up the morning of that February 16th, swollen from head to toe like a puffer fish. I was not in labor, but I knew something was wrong. Even though I was sick all through the pregnancy, I had no swelling issues until that morning. I went right to the ER. They took me up to Labor and Delivery, and monitored me. I had no labor pains, and everything checked out OK. They could not find a reason why I suddenly swelled up. After a couple of hours, they told me to get dressed and go home. As soon as the doctor and nurse left the room so I could get dressed, I was hit with pain like I never had before. I screamed. The doctor and nurse came running back in. I was in labor, 3 minutes apart and 1 1/2 minute long contractions. The doctor grabbed a portable X-ray machine and did a quick pic which showed my daughter was coming out breech, feet first. They took my vitals, and they were almost non-existent. I was dying. The doctor and nurse grabbed my hospital bed and wheeled me down to the Operating Room. The doctor told me he could save my baby, but might not be able to save me. The last thing I said before losing consciousness, was for him to save my daughter and not worry about me.
I was given a 1 out of 10 chance of making it, after my daughter was delivered by emergency c-section. By the Grace of God, I am here talking to you all today.
Here is some more detail of the scar tissue surgery and all the events around this, and the after story.
Just as the nurses were starting to wheel me out of the room for the scar tissue removal surgery/laprascope, a Priest who I knew, and had left a message for earlier, came in the door. I was anointed and my daughter was baptized by pouring Holy water on my belly.I left everything in God's hands, as to what would happen.
As for my daughter, she was a very precocious child, starting to talk at 2 months old, the first word being "Momma". She could hold a conversation with an adult at 1 years old. When she was not quite 2 years old, I told her the story about what happened the day they took me down for surgery for the scar tissue, and couldn't find her. I told her she was gone for 3 days, until she finally showed up.She looked at me and smiled. She said "I was up in Heaven with a lot of other children. There was lots of animals to play with. It was so pretty ! Jesus came and served us all food at a real long table." I asked her why she came back. She said "because you needed me, Mommy".

Re: My Daughter's Story
...

It is a medically documented fact that my daughter was missing for 3 days. All that time I had at least a dozen ultrasounds.
Call me what you will, but I am speaking the truth.
 Quoting: tiger1

I'm an ultrasonographer.

How far along were you at that point?

ULS 23 years ago was not very reliable. And techs were not academically trained in scanning since no one really understood the entirety of what US could do at that point.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74694658

Just noticed... the op say "about 3 months"

That means 8-10 weeks gestational age. And because you're not sure of exact age, it's likely even younger/smaller. Size/dating was not realizable back then.

And.. Sometimes the uterus is in a position that makes scanning difficult. (Retroverted). Early pregnancies (5 weeks) can be missed even today when scanned transabdominally. And especially when the equipment 24 years ago was so poor and low resolution.

Just because they "couldnt find" her doesn't mean she was actually "gone."

It means the equipment was typically low res. And likely that the tech...and yes, even the doctors...didn't know what they were doing. Most doctors today refuse to scan because it's a very difficult med exam to perform.

And back, then, they did NOT know what they were doing. Nothing like today's scans

In my years in medical, I've seen crazy things happen. I've seen doctors mistake pelvic kidneys for "complex masses." I've seen misdiagnosed anencephalic fetus ...where the baby was actually born full term without a head and no one ...not the tech, not the doctor...caught it. I've seen twin pregnancies missed. I've seen ectopics missed. Etc, etc... And those misdiagnoses occurred relatively recently

I don't mean to offend.

I know there is a lot of unknown and mystical reasons for things...for life.

But in the medically speaking, your experience is something that can be easily explained in the medical world

.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74694658

I know exactly when I got pregnant, which was the 3rd week of April. The end of July is when the surgery took place. My daughter was full term on February 16th.I was a bit over 3 months along when I had the surgery. I had ultrasounds earlier than this stage for other pregnancies, and they clearly showed the baby.
 Quoting: tiger1

Your dates are off ... If you conceived 3rd week of April, (say, April 21) that would give an LMP 2 weeks earlier (say, around April 7) and your due date would've been Jan 12. A Feb delivery would be a month (4weeks) too long.

A normal 40 week pregnancy from LMP with a term delivery date of Feb 16, gives the LMP of mid May. Which would be approx 8 weeks pregnancy at July surgery.

(btw, gestational age is determined 40 weeks by LMP. Not date of conception. This is because women know when their period is. But conception is variable and has a 3 day window.)

If you look up ultrasound images of 8 week embryos...they are still VERY small at that age.

Even still, my original post still stands -

When you understand how ultrasound works, it's history and how it's used today, it's not so surprising really.

As a medical professional, im just trying to describe those variables to help explain what most likely happened in your experience.

1) Two decades ago, ultrasound dating was notoriously an imperfect process. A tiny bit off on measurements could have a drastic affect on age and due date. Even today, a tech can make small mistakes that have a big impact on gest dates and fetal size.

2) 24 years ago...machines were poor resolution and limited tech ability. And because the equipment was limited, most early techs were cross trained from other modalities and had no proper training. Many techs and doctors just didn't know what they were doing back then. Heck..many techs nowadays still do poor scanning. Lol

3) Ultrasound is OPERATOR-DEPENDENT. Most radiologists hate reading uls scans because they have to depend entirely on the tech and hope the tech knows what they're doing.

CT and MRI takes an image of the entire anatomy at a certain slice. But in ultrasound, a very small transducer has to be swept around ..using "acoustic windows" ...like a full bladder.. to even see anything. So many things can be missed. If the tech can't find something, then the reading rad won't see it either

4) Anatomy. Certain variables.... such as patient size, prior surgeries, organ size/lay etc....can make scanning and diagnosing very difficult. Like my earlier post, a retroverted uterus will make seeing the top of the uterus near impossible on some women. Acoustic artifacts can impede imaging ability.

And no, I'm not trolling.

I've been an ultrasound tech for 20 years. And my explanation for the "missing baby" outlines exactly what can, did and will continue to happen in the medical field.

Ultrasound is a very unique modality. Abnormal anatomy can be missed and normal anatomy can be mistaken for abnormalities and tumors. It's not like CT, MRI or snapping a pic where the whole region is seen.

It's a very complicated process where life and death decisions depend on an experienced tech. (The next time you have an ultrasound exam, it's not a bad idea to ask your tech how long they've been scanning for)

This explanation doesn't negate your spirituality or faith in any way.

You definitely had a difficult pregnancy filled with trials and miracles.

But because of the reasons outlined above, it's not surprising at all that they weren't able to image an early embryo properly.
